Das Astronomiemuseum der Sternwarte Sonneberg wird von einem gemeinnützigen Verein getragen und betrieben. Ziel des Vereins ist es, technische und historische Erkenntnisse zu popularisieren, insbesondere astronomisches Wissen und Ergebnisse der astronomischen Forschung und zum Erhalt der Sternwarte Sonneberg als wissenschaftliche Einrichtung mit ihren Archiven und Instrumenten beizutragen sowie das Astronomiemuseum als kulturelle, künstlerische und touristisch attraktive Einrichtung fortzuführen.

Le musée d'astronomie de l'observatoire de Sonneberg est soutenu et géré par une association à but non lucratif. L'objectif de l'association est de populariser les connaissances techniques et historiques, en particulier les connaissances astronomiques et les résultats de la recherche astronomique, et de contribuer à la préservation de l'observatoire de Sonneberg en tant qu'institution scientifique avec ses archives et ses instruments, ainsi que de continuer à faire du musée de l'astronomie une institution culturelle, artistique et touristique attrayante.
