Avec sa riche histoire, le monastère Sankt Claren représente un bien culturel unique. Depuis plus de 700 ans, ce remarquable complexe de bâtiments se trouve au cœur de la vieille ville de Weißenfels. La construction et la consécration au nom de Sainte Clara ont eu lieu en 1301. Après l'introduction de la Réforme, le monastère devint un couvent de femmes à partir de 1540. Le premier duc de Saxe-Weissenfels, Augustus, y fonda en 1664 le "Gymnasium illustre Augusteum", une sorte d'école supérieure, et engagea d'excellents professeurs comme Christian Weise, Johannes Riemer et Christoph Cellarius. Plus tard, il a accueilli entre autres l'école royale de formation des enseignants à partir de 1837, le premier musée de la ville, la bibliothèque municipale et a été pendant de nombreuses décennies le service de police central du district et de la ville de Weißenfels. Dans l'aile ouest, la salle capitulaire, le scriptorium et le réfectoire ont été conservés en très bon état depuis la dernière construction du monastère vers l'an 1500. Le portail de l'entrée principale, en revanche, n'a été déplacé de la Jüdenstrasse qu'au cours de ce siècle. L'association des citoyens de Weißenfels, Kloster St. Claren e.V., s'est donné pour mission de redonner vie à ces vénérables murs. Des manifestations telles que le festival Dixiland ou le marché de la Saint-Martin attirent de nombreux visiteurs dans le plus ancien bâtiment de la ville. Des visites publiques donnent un aperçu de l'histoire, mais aussi des visions pour le bâtiment. With its rich history, the Sankt Claren monastery is a unique cultural asset. The impressive building complex has stood in the heart of the old town of Weißenfels for over 700 years. It was built in 1301 and consecrated in the name of St. Clara. After the introduction of the Reformation, the convent became a convent for women from 1540. The first Duke of Saxe-Weissenfels, Augustus, founded the "Gymnasium illustre Augusteum", a kind of university, here in 1664 and engaged outstanding teachers such as Christian Weise, Johannes Riemer and Christoph Cellarius. It later housed the royal teacher training seminar from 1837, the town's first museum, the town library and was the central police station for the district and town of Weißenfels for many decades. In the west wing, the chapter house, the scriptorium and the refectory have been preserved in very good condition from the time of the last new monastery building around the year 1500. The portal of the main entrance, on the other hand, was only moved from Jüdenstraße in this century. The Weißenfelser Bürgerverein Kloster St. Claren e.V. has set itself the task of filling the venerable walls with life. Events such as the Dixiland Festival or the St. Martin's Market attract many visitors to the town's oldest building. Public tours provide an insight into the history of the building as well as the visions for it. Das Kloster Sankt Claren stellt mit seiner reichen Geschichte ein einmaliges Kulturgut dar. Seit über 700 Jahren steht der beachtliche Gebäudekomplex im Herzen der Altstadt von Weißenfels. 1301 erfolgte der Bau und die Weihe auf den Namen der Heiligen Clara. Nach Einführung der Reformation entstand ab 1540 aus dem Kloster ein Frauenstift. Der erste Herzog von Sachsen-Weißenfels, Augustus, gründete 1664 hier das "Gymnasium illustre Augusteum", eine Art Hochschule, und verpflichtete hervorragende Lehrkräfte, wie Christian Weise, Johannes Riemer und Christoph Cellarius. Später beherbergte es u. a. das königliche Lehrerbildungs-Seminar ab 1837, das erste Museum der Stadt, die Stadtbibliothek und es war viele Jahrzehnte die zentrale Polizei-Dienststelle des Kreises und der Stadt Weißenfels. Im Westflügel ist aus der Zeit des letzten Klosterneubaus um das Jahr 1500 der Kapitelsaal, das Skriptorium und das Refektorium in einem sehr guten Zustand erhalten geblieben. Das Portal des Haupteinganges dagegen wurde erst in diesem Jahrhundert aus der Jüdenstraße umgesetzt. Der Weißenfelser Bürgerverein Kloster St. Claren e.V. hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, das ehrwürdige Gemäuer mit Leben zu füllen. Veranstaltungen wie das Dixielandfestival oder der Martinsmarkt locken viele Besuchende in das älteste Gebäude der Stadt. Öffentliche Besichtigungen geben Einblicke in die Historie, aber auch zu den Visionen für das Gebäude.
