Das Scharnhorstdenknmal in Großgörschen wurde zum 100. Jahrestag der Schlacht errichtet und besteht aus einem hohen Sockel, auf dem ein mächtiger Adler thront. Ein Medaillon auf der Vorderseite zeigt das Porträt Scharnhorsts, während eine Tafel auf der Rückseite die beteiligten Regimenter würdigt. Besonders eindrucksvoll sind die beiden Steinbänke vor dem Denkmal, auf denen Scharnhorsts Wahlspruch „Ziel erkannt! – Kräfte gespannt!“ eingraviert ist. Die Anlage erinnert nicht nur an Scharnhorsts Verdienste, sondern auch an die gefallenen Soldaten, deren Überreste 1975 bei Bauarbeiten entdeckt und nahe dem Denkmal beigesetzt wurden. Umgeben von weiteren Denkmälern aus dem frühen 19. Jahrhundert ist das Scharnhorstdenkmal ein stiller, historischer Ort im Burgenlandkreis, der zum Innehalten einlädt.
The Scharnhorst Monument in Großgörschen was erected to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the battle and consists of a tall pedestal on which a mighty eagle sits. A medallion on the front shows the portrait of Scharnhorst, while a plaque on the back honors the participating regiments. Particularly impressive are the two stone benches in front of the monument, on which Scharnhorst's motto "Aim recognized! — Forces tensed!" is engraved. The complex commemorates not only Scharnhorst's achievements, but also the fallen soldiers whose remains were discovered during construction work in 1975 and buried near the monument. Surrounded by other monuments from the early 19th century, the Scharnhorst Monument is a quiet, historic place in the Burgenland that invites you to pause for a moment.
