Der Ortsteil Thamsbrück liegt 5,0 km von der Kurstadt Bad Langensalza entfernt. Der Ort wurde am 01.01.1994 eingemeindet und zählt heute 926 Einwohner (Stand 31.12.2019). Die sanierte St. Georgskirche, sowie das neugestaltete Stadtzentrum mit Marktplatz, Rathaus und Ratskeller bestimmen das Stadtbild. Thamsbrück, 736 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt und 1206 als Stadt genannt, zählt somit zu den ältesten Städten in Thüringen. Die Stadtmauer um Thamsbrück wurde aber nie vollständig fertiggestellt. Sie hatte drei Tore (Steintor, Riethstor und Dammtor).

Thamsbrück, mentionnée pour la première fois dans un document en 736 et nommée ville en 1206, est ainsi l'une des plus anciennes villes de Thuringe. Cependant, le mur d'enceinte de la ville autour de Thamsbrück n'a jamais été complètement achevé. Elle avait trois portes (Steintor, Riethstor et Dammtor).

The district Thamsbrück is located 5.0 km from the spa town Bad Langensalza. The village was incorporated on 01.01.1994 and today has 926 inhabitants (as of 31.12.2019). The renovated St. George's Church, as well as the redesigned town center with market square, town hall and Ratskeller determine the townscape. Thamsbrück, first mentioned in a document in 736 and named as a town in 1206, is thus one of the oldest towns in Thuringia. However, the town wall around Thamsbrück was never completely finished. It had three gates (Steintor, Riethstor and Dammtor).
