About: Catharinau

Das östlich an den Rudolstädter Ortsteil Cumbach angrenzende Dorf (206 m ü. NN, 360 Einwohner) liegt rechtsseitig der Saale auf einer Hochterrasse und wird 1074 als Clinowa et aliud Clinowa erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Ursprünglich bestand es aus zwei räumlich voneinander getrennten Ortsteilen, dem Oberdorf mit Kirche, Gaststätte und ehemaliger Schule sowie dem Unterdorf mit den Gebäuden der Agrargenossenschaft, an deren Stallanlage das 3 ha große Gewerbegebiet angrenzt. Inzwischen verbindet das neue Wohngebiet „Zwischen dem Dorfe“ beide Ortsteile. Catharinau ist seit alters her ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel für die benachbarten „Städter“.

Le village (206 m d'altitude, 360 habitants), situé à l'est du quartier de Cumbach à Rudolstadt, se trouve sur la rive droite de la Saale sur une haute terrasse et est mentionné pour la première fois dans un document en 1074 sous le nom de Clinowa et aliud Clinowa. À l'origine, il se composait de deux parties séparées physiquement l'une de l'autre : le village supérieur avec l'église, le restaurant et l'ancienne école, et le village inférieur avec les bâtiments de la coopérative agricole, dont l'étable jouxte la zone industrielle de 3 ha. Entre-temps, la nouvelle zone résidentielle "Zwischen dem Dorfe" relie les deux parties du village. Catharinau est depuis toujours une destination d'excursion appréciée des "citadins" voisins.

The village (206 m above sea level, 360 inhabitants), which borders the Rudolstadt district of Cumbach to the east, lies on a high terrace on the right bank of the Saale and was first mentioned in a document in 1074 as Clinowa et aliud Clinowa. Originally, it consisted of two spatially separated parts of the village, the upper village with church, restaurant and former school, and the lower village with the buildings of the agricultural cooperative, to whose stable facility the 3 ha large commercial area adjoins. Meanwhile, the new residential area "Zwischen dem Dorfe" connects both parts of the village. Catharinau has been a popular destination for the neighboring "townspeople" since time immemorial.
