Bereits von weitem erblickt der Reisende das idyllisch im Werratal gelegene Kloster Veilsdorf, ein Ortsteil der Gemeinde Veilsdorf im Landkreis Hildburghausen. Das ehemalige Benediktiner-Nonnen-Kloster, 1189 gegründet und dem Erzengel Michael geweiht, erinnert an die lange Geschichte der Region. Es wurde während des Bauernkrieges 1524/25 niedergebrannt. Im Jahr 1760 gründete Prinz Eugen von Hildburghausen hier eine der ältesten Porzellanmanufakturen Thüringens, die trotz anfänglicher Erfolge in finanzielle Schwierigkeiten geriet. Nach mehreren Besitzerwechseln begann unter Gustaf Kieser und Albert Heubach ab 1863 der wirtschaftliche Aufstieg der Fabrik. Heute ist das Werk im Besitz der Firma Rauschert.

De loin, le voyageur aperçoit déjà le monastère de Veilsdorf, situé de manière idyllique dans la vallée de la Werra, un quartier de la commune de Veilsdorf dans le district de Hildburghausen. L'ancien couvent de nonnes bénédictines, fondé en 1189 et dédié à l'archange Michel, rappelle la longue histoire de la région. Il a été incendié pendant la guerre des paysans en 1524/25. En 1760, le prince Eugen de Hildburghausen y fonda l'une des plus anciennes manufactures de porcelaine de Thuringe qui, malgré des succès initiaux, connut des difficultés financières. Even from a distance, travelers can see the idyllic Veilsdorf Monastery in the Werra Valley, a district of the municipality of Veilsdorf in the district of Hildburghausen. The former Benedictine nunnery, founded in 1189 and dedicated to the Archangel Michael, is a reminder of the region's long history. It was burned down during the Peasants' War in 1524/25.
