About: Gräfinau-Angstedt

Die beiden Dörfer „Gräfinau" und „Angstedt" wurden 1282 erstmals erwähnt. Der Name Gräfinau ging vermutlich auf gräfliche Ouwe (Aue) zurück, während Angstedt auf Stätte des Ank (altdeutsch für Engel) hindeutete. Sie gehörten zur Grafschaft Schwarzburg, Gräfinau zur Rudolstädter Linie und zum Amt Stadtilm, Angstedt jedoch zur Sondershäuser Linie und zum Amt Gehren. Die Kirche Angstedt wurde im 13.Jahrhundert errichtet. 1827-1831 erfolgte der Neubau der jetzigen Kirche. Gräfinau war bis 1826 nach Angstedt gepfarrt. Jahrhundertelang lebten die Einwohner von Landwirtschaft und Waldarbeit. In Gräfinau befand sich ein Rittergut, das 1453 dem Herren von Witzleben gehörte und 1768 aufgelöst wurde. Die Bauern von Angstedt reichten während des Bauernkrieges 1525 in 24 Artikel gefasste Forderungen ein. Nach der Niederlage der Bauern mussten sie 50 Gulden Strafgeld zahlen und verloren das Brau- und Baderecht. Vor allem im 18. und 19. Jahrhundert betätigten sich viele Einwohner als Fuhr- und Handelsleute, die Thüringer Waren wie Glas, Porzellan und Kienruß bis nach Hamburg fuhren und als Rückfracht Felle, Käse, Tabak und dergleichen mitbrachten. Aus dieser Zeit stammt unser Original "Der letzte Fuhrmann". Die beiden Orte wurden dann 1924 zum gemeinsamen Ort Gräfinau-Angstedt zusammengeschlossen. Seither spielen Landwirtschaft und Kleingewerbe eine große Rolle. Bis 1989 gab es in Gräfinau-Angstedt die einzige Firma in der damaligen DDR, die Filzpantoffeln herstellte. Weiterhin waren Betriebsteile des Strickereikombinates Apolda und der Relaistechnik Großbreitenbach ansässig. Heute befinden sich im Ort eine Regelschule, eine neu erbaute Kindertagesstätte, ein neu erbautes Alten- und Pflegeheim, verschiedene Sportstätten sowie ein Wohn- und Gewerbegebiet. Dominante Betriebe sind die Kyffhäuser Qualitätsbullen GmbH, das Glaszentrum Knoch sowie die Firma Straßen- und Tiefbau Schramm. Am 31. März 1994 wurde durch die drei Bürgermeister von Bücheloh, Gräfinau-Angstedt und Wümbach in Bücheloh im Rahmen eines feierlichen Aktes eine Urkunde unterzeichnet, welche die Gründung der neuen Einheitsgemeinde Wolfsberg besiegelte. Gräfinau-Angstedt war Sitz der Verwaltung der Wolfsberggemeinde. Im Juli 2018 wurde der ehemalige Ortsteil der Wolfsberggemeinde als neuer Ortsteil in die Stadt Ilmenau aufgenommen.

They belonged to the county of Schwarzburg, Gräfinau to the Rudolstadt line and the office of Stadtilm, but Angstedt to the Sondershausen line and the office of Gehren. During the Peasants' War in 1525, the peasants of Angstedt submitted demands that were summarized in 24 articles. After the defeat of the peasants they had to pay 50 gulden penalty money and lost the brewing and bathing rights. Especially in the 18th and 19th century many inhabitants were active as carters and traders, who drove Thuringian goods such as glass, porcelain and Kienruß to Hamburg and brought back skins, cheese, tobacco and the like as return freight. From this time comes our original "The last carter". In 1924 the two villages were united to the common village Gräfinau-Angstedt. Since then agriculture and small trade have played an important role. Until 1989 Gräfinau-Angstedt was the only company in the former GDR which produced felt slippers.
