The regional office of the Stasi Records Archive in Erfurt is responsible for safekeeping, utilization and accessibility of around 4,500 metres of Stasi files, around 600 metres of index cards - approx. 1.7 million - as well as numerous photos, films and slides. Another part of the archive’s repository is material that has been pre-destroyed by Stasi-members during the last days of the secret service in order to cover illegal activities and protect identities. The archive’s files cover the period from 1945 to 1990. The Stasi Records Archive in Erfurt gives visitors the opportunity to explore a part of GDR history on-site through films, lectures as well as guided tours through the archive. Admission is free. Please contact us for appointments for individual tours through the archive. Tours are in German, please bring a translator if needed. A permanent exhibition (also in German) offers information on the Stasi for both visitors with little or no knowledge on the subject as well as for experts. Numerous reproductions of Stasi files are on display.

Les archives de l'antenne d'Erfurt comprennent environ 4.500 mètres linéaires de dossiers, environ 600 mètres linéaires de fiches - soit environ 1,7 million - ainsi que de nombreuses photos, films, diapositives et du matériel pré-détruit. La période documentée s'étend de 1945 à 1990. Les archives de la Stasi offrent la possibilité d'explorer de près une partie de l'histoire de la RDA. Différents films, conférences et visites guidées des archives et du centre d'information et de documentation donnent un premier aperçu de la Staatssicherheit ou permettent d'approfondir les différents thèmes. Pour rendre cette offre plus concrète, les dossiers de la Stasi sont utilisés comme exemples concrets. En outre, l'exposition "Sicherungsbereich DDR" (zone de sécurité de la RDA) peut être visitée dans notre centre d'information et de documentation. Des visites guidées individuelles sont possibles sur inscription préalable.

Das Archiv der Außenstelle Erfurt umfasst rund 4500 laufende Meter Akten, etwa 600 laufende Meter Karteikarten - ca. 1,7 Millionen - sowie zahlreiche Fotos, Filme, Dias und vorvernichtetes Material. Der dokumentierte Zeitraum erstreckt sich von 1945 bis 1990. Das Stasi-Unterlagen-Archiv bietet die Gelegenheit einen Teil der DDR-Geschichte hautnah erkunden. Verschiedene Filme, Vorträge und Führungen durch das Archiv sowie das Informations- und Dokumentationszentrum geben einen ersten Überblick zur Staatssicherheit bzw. vertiefen die einzelnen Themen. Um dieses Angebot anschaulich zu gestalten, werden die Stasi-Akten als konkrete Beispiele mit hinzugezogen. Weiterhin kann die Ausstellung "Sicherungsbereich DDR" in unserem Informations- und Dokumentationszentrum besichtigt werden. Individuelle Führungen sind nach vorheriger Anmeldung möglich.
