Born in Moscow, Wassily Kandinsky followed the call of Walter Gropius to the Weimar Bauhaus. Here he was form master for wall painting and teacher in the preliminary courses. Within a very short time, he advanced to become one of the most important and innovative teachers at the art school and belonged to the artist avant-garde of the first half of the 20th century. His close contact with Paul Klee was very fruitful. Kandinsky lived on the second floor of the private house at the former Südstraße 3 from 1923 to 1925, which is commemorated by a memorial plaque.

Sehr fruchtbar war der enge Kontakt zu Paul Klee. Im zweiten Stock des Privathauses der ehemaligen Südstraße 3 lebte Kandinsky von 1923 bis 1925. Eine Gedenktafel erinnert daran.
