Die in den Jahren 1824/25 erbaute Grabenkaponniere ist ein besonders verstärktes Bauwerk auf der Festung Petersberg. Sie besitzt Umfassungswände von einem Meter Stärke und eine bombensichere Decke, die man Balken an Balken mit Erdüberdeckung fertigte. Die Grabenkaponniere diente einerseits zur Aufbewahrung von fahrbaren Geschützen, andererseits zur Verteidigung des Hauptgrabens. In den Jahren von 1995 bis 2000 wurde sie umfassend saniert und jüngere Umbauten entfernt.
Built in the years 1824/25, the trench caponniere is a particularly reinforced structure on the Petersberg fortress. It has enclosing walls one metre thick and a bomb-proof ceiling, which was built beam to beam with an earth covering. The trench caponniere served on the one hand for the storage of mobile guns and on the other hand for the defence of the main trench. In the years 1995 to 2000 it was extensively renovated and more recent alterations were removed.
Construite dans les années 1824/25, la caponnière de tranchée est une structure particulièrement renforcée sur la forteresse de Petersberg.
