About: Lindau

Lindau ist ein in Südniedersachsen liegender Flecken. Er gehört der Gemeinde Katlenburg-Lindau an und liegt – als einziger Ort im Landkreis Northeim – im Untereichsfeld. Lindau hat einige historisch wertvolle Bauten. Das heute älteste Gebäude der Gemeinde Katlenburg-Lindau ist das so genannte Mushaus, dessen Wurzeln bis ins 14. Jahrhundert zurückreichen. Das hoch gebaute und weithin sichtbare Mushaus findet sich seit 1951 auf dem Wappen der Ortschaft Lindau. Mit seinen mehreren Metern dicken Mauern überdauerte es die Jahrhunderte und gilt als eines der ältesten, voll erhaltenen Profanbauten in Niedersachsen. Neben dem Mushaus sind die barocke katholische Kirche Sankt Peter und Paul mit seine Louis-Krell-Orgel, die neugotische Kreuzkirche aus Backstein sowie die sagenumwobene Mordsmühle sehenswerte Ausflugspunkte.

Lindau est un village situé dans le sud de la Basse-Saxe. Il fait partie de la commune de Katlenburg-Lindau et se trouve - en tant que seule localité du district de Northeim - dans le Untereichsfeld. Lindau possède quelques bâtiments de grande valeur historique. Le plus ancien bâtiment actuel de la commune de Katlenburg-Lindau est la "Mushaus", dont les racines remontent au 14e siècle. La Mushaus, construite en hauteur et visible de loin, figure depuis 1951 sur le blason de la localité de Lindau. Avec ses murs de plusieurs mètres d'épaisseur, elle a traversé les siècles et est considérée comme l'un des plus anciens bâtiments profanes entièrement conservés de Basse-Saxe. Outre la maison des muses, l'église catholique baroque Sankt Peter und Paul et son orgue Louis Krell, l'église néogothique en briques Kreuzkirche ainsi que le moulin mythique Mordsmühle valent le détour.

Lindau is a village located in southern Lower Saxony. It belongs to the municipality of Katlenburg-Lindau and is located - as the only place in the district of Northeim - in the Untereichsfeld. Lindau has some historically valuable buildings. The oldest building in the municipality of Katlenburg-Lindau today is the so-called Mushaus, whose roots go back to the 14th century. The Mushaus, which is tall and visible from afar, has been on the coat of arms of the village of Lindau since 1951. With its walls several meters thick, it has survived the centuries and is considered one of the oldest, fully preserved secular buildings in Lower Saxony.
