Le village est un village d'églises avec un manoir. En amont, une route de campagne mène près de l'eau à Kleinwelsbach. On peut y admirer de nombreux groupes d'arbres pittoresques. La première mention documentaire du village remonte à 1195, lorsque le monastère de Germerode entretenait un couvent à Großwelsbach et disposait de vastes terres. En 1578, Hans Berlepsch acquiert la propriété du monastère, qui restera longtemps en possession de sa famille en tant que manoir. L'église de St. Blasii a été construite en dolomite de frontière, son âge exact est inconnu.

Dieser Ortsteil ist 8,4 km von der Kurstadt Bad Langensalza entfernt und zählt 259 Einwohner (Stand 31.12.2019). Am 01.01.1994 wurde Großwelsbach eingemeindet. Das Dorf ist ein Kirchdorf mit einem Rittergut. Bachaufwärts führt eine Landstraße in der Nähe des Wassers entlang nach Kleinwelsbach. Man kann dort so manche malerische Baumgruppe bewundern. Die erste urkundliche Erwähnung erfolgte im Jahre 1195. Das Kloster Germerode unterhielt in Großwelsbach ein Nonnenkloster und verfügte über ausgedehnte Ländereien. Im Jahre 1578 erwarb Hans Berlepsch das Klostergut und dieses blieb lange als Rittergut im Besitz seiner Familie. Die Kirche St. Blasii wurde aus Grenzdolomit gebaut, ihr genaues Alter ist unbekannt.

Upstream a country road leads along near the water to Kleinwelsbach. One can admire many a picturesque group of trees there. The first documentary mention of the village dates back to 1195, when the monastery of Germerode maintained a nunnery in Großwelsbach and owned extensive lands. In 1578 Hans Berlepsch acquired the monastery property and it remained in the possession of his family as a manor for a long time. The church of St. Blasii was built of border dolomite, its exact age is unknown.
