In 1667–69, following damage sustained during the Thirty Years’ War, a hall church with a west tower was built. It was remodeled in the Baroque style in 1724–30, and the interior was painted in 1750–52. The pulpit altar dates from 1750. The church features a wooden barrel vault and a two-story gallery. The leaded-glass windows were crafted by Birr (Berlin). A comprehensive restoration took place in 1960–66, and the roof was renovated in 2006. The painter Lyonel Feininger was deeply impressed by the church. It appears in his works, among others: April 26, 1911, sketch; 1912, etching; 1913, two sketches; 1915, oil painting; 1917, charcoal drawing; 1919, woodcut; 1920, two oil paintings; 1955, watercolor and ink; 1955, charcoal drawing. The organ was built in 1807 by Johann Benjamin Witzmann (Stadtilm) and is considered one of the first organs from this workshop (he also donated the baptismal font for the organ’s consecration). In 1997–99, Karl-Heinz Schönefeld (Stadtilm) carried out a general overhaul and installed a new console. In the tower, two bronze bells from the Franz Schilling Söhne foundry (Apolda) dating from 1921 ring, as well as a bronze bell from the Glocken- und Kunstgießerei Metz foundry (Karlsruhe) dating from 1990, which replaced the bronze bell from 1721 by Johann Christian Rose (Oßmannstedt), which now stands in the nave with a crack.

W latach 1667–1669, w następstwie zniszczeń spowodowanych wojną trzydziestoletnią, wzniesiono kościół halowy z wieżą zachodnią. W latach 1724–1730 nadano mu styl barokowy, a w latach 1750–1752 pomalowano wnętrze. Ołtarz ambonowy pochodzi z 1750 roku. Kościół posiada drewniany sklepienie beczkowe oraz dwupiętrową galerię. Witraże w oknach wykonała firma Birr (Berlin). W latach 1960–1966 przeprowadzono gruntowną renowację, a w 2006 roku remont dachu. Znajduje się on m.in. w jego następujących pracach: 26 kwietnia 1911 r. – szkic plenerowy; 1912 r. – akwaforta; 1913 r. – dwa szkice plenerowe; 1915 r. – obraz olejny; 1917 r. – rysunek węglem; 1919 r. – drzeworyt; 1920 r. – dwa obrazy olejne; 1955 r. – akwarela i tusz; 1955 r.
