Der rechts der Saale, östlich von Catharinau gelegene Ort (185 m ü. NN, 168 Einwohner) wird als Culecwitzi 1074 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt. Schon die mittelalterliche Dorfsiedlung lehnte sich an die erhöhten Ufer des Schabedaches an, der hier in die Saaleaue eintritt. Die Gebäude, meist kleine Bauernhöfe, gruppieren sich in zwei im Mittelalter befestigte, Siedlungskerne - die Kirche im Osten und den Edelhof im Westen. Dieser ehemalige Adelssitz, ein einzigartiger schöner Fachwerkbau, heute ein renommiertes Landhotel, ist für das Ortsbild besonders prägend. Die waldreiche Umgebung lädt zum Wandern und Relaxen ein.

Le village situé sur la rive droite de la Saale, à l'est de Catharinau (185 m d'altitude, 168 habitants) est mentionné pour la première fois dans un document en 1074 sous le nom de Culecwitzi. Le village médiéval s'appuyait déjà sur les rives surélevées du Schabedach, qui entre ici dans la plaine alluviale de la Saale. Les bâtiments, pour la plupart de petites fermes, sont regroupés en deux noyaux d'habitation fortifiés au Moyen Âge : l'église à l'est et l'Edelhof à l'ouest. Cette ancienne résidence aristocratique, une belle construction à colombages unique en son genre, aujourd'hui un hôtel de campagne renommé, est particulièrement marquante pour l'image du village. Les environs boisés invitent à la randonnée et à la détente.

The village on the right bank of the Saale, east of Catharinau (185 m above sea level, 168 inhabitants) was first mentioned in a document as Culecwitzi in 1074. Already the medieval village settlement leaned against the elevated banks of the Schabedach, which enters the Saale floodplain here. The buildings, mostly small farms, are grouped in two settlement cores fortified in the Middle Ages - the church in the east and the Edelhof in the west. This former noble residence, a unique beautiful half-timbered building, today a renowned country hotel, is particularly characteristic of the village.
