Wilhelmsthal is a picturesque district of Eckardtshausen in the municipality of Gerstungen, Thuringia. This idyllically situated community on Lake Wilhelmsthal, where the baroque Wilhelmsthal Castle with its park is located, can be reached via the B 19. It was built between 1712 and 1715 by Duke Johann Wilhelm von Eisenach and was a meeting place for renowned artists, including Georg Philipp Telemann. Since reunification, the region has developed into an important business location in the Wartburg district, and numerous craft businesses and medium-sized companies offer attractive jobs. The municipality is family-friendly, with a sports club and kindergarten, while the "Altenberger See" recreational area with a campsite and restaurants is in the immediate vicinity.

Über die B 19 erreicht man diese idyllisch gelegene Gemeinde am Wilhelmsthaler See, wo sich das barocke Schloss Wilhelmsthal mit seiner Parkanlage befindet. Es wurde zwischen 1712 und 1715 von Herzog Johann Wilhelm von Eisenach erbaut und war ein Treffpunkt namhafter Künstler, darunter Georg Philipp Telemann. Seit der Wiedervereinigung hat sich die Region zu einem wichtigen Wirtschaftsstandort im Wartburgkreis entwickelt, und zahlreiche Handwerksbetriebe sowie mittelständische Unternehmen bieten attraktive Arbeitsplätze.
