Le musée Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn se trouve dans l'ancienne maison de Johann Friedrich Ludwig Christoph Jahn, que beaucoup connaissent simplement sous le nom de « Turnvater » Jahn (père de la gymnastique). Jahn a activement participé à la conception du bâtiment, en tenant compte de toutes les personnes qui allaient vivre dans la maison. The Friedrich Ludwig Jahn Museum is located in the former residence of Johann Friedrich Ludwig Christoph Jahn, known to many simply as "Turnvater" Jahn (Father of Gymnastics). The ensemble of his former places of work also includes the memorial gymnasium and the Jahn Hall of Honor. Friedrich Ludwig Jahn came to Freyburg an der Unstrut in 1825. He initially lived in an apartment, but it burned down in 1838, so he looked for a vacant plot of land to build a house. Jahn was actively involved in the planning of the building, taking into account all the people who would later live in the house. The house has been a listed building since 1936; between 1995 and 1999, it was restored to its original condition based on Jahn's floor plans. On the ground floor, numerous documents and exhibits inform visitors about the man who founded the gymnastics movement in Germany. For example, the famous gymnastics horse can be admired as a unique testimony to sports history. The upper floor offers changing special exhibitions and serves as a library, while the basement of the house is a meeting place. From April 2026 until the end of 2028, the Jahn Museum in the former residence of the father of gymnastics will be closed for complete renovation. From January 7, 2026, until March 28, 2026, the museum will only be open on request and for guided tours (Mon-Sat). Until summer 2026, a temporary exhibition will be set up in the Jahn Hall of Fame in Freyburg's city center (Schützenstraße 17). During the renovation of the residence, we will offer a full exhibition program there, including museum educational activities.
Das Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Museum befindet sich im ehemaligen Wohnhaus von Johann Friedrich Ludwig Christoph Jahn, den viele nur als „Turnvater“ Jahn kennen. Zum Ensemble seiner früheren Wirkungsstätten gehören außerdem die Erinnerungsturnhalle sowie die Jahn-Ehrenhalle. Friedrich Ludwig Jahn kam im Jahre 1825 nach Freyburg an der Unstrut. Er wohnte zunächst in einer Wohnung, die jedoch 1838 abbrannte, sodass er sich nach einem freien Grundstück für den Bau eines Wohnhauses umsah. Die Planungen des Gebäudes bestimmte Jahn aktiv mit und berücksichtigte dabei alle Personen, die später im Haus leben sollten. Seit 1936 steht das Haus unter Denkmalschutz; in den Jahren von 1995 bis 1999 wurde es wieder in den Zustand nach den Grundrisszeichnungen von Jahn zurückversetzt. In den Räumlichkeiten des Erdgeschosses informieren zahlreiche Dokumente und Ausstellungsstücke die Besucher über den Mann, der die Turnbewegung in Deutschland begründete. So ist beispielsweise das berühmte Turnpferd als einzigartiges Zeugnis der Sporthistorie zu bestaunen. Das Obergeschoss bietet wechselnde Sonderausstellungen und dient als Bibliothek, im Keller des Hauses befindet sich eine Begegnungsstätte. Ab April 2026 bis Ende 2028 wird das Jahn-Museum im ehemaligen Wohnhaus des Turnvaters für eine Generalsanierung geschlossen. Bis Sommer 2026 wird in der Jahn-Ehrenhalle in Freyburgs Innenstadt (Schützenstraße 17) eine Interimsausstellung eingerichtet. Während der Zeit der Sanierung am Wohnhaus bieten wir dort ein volles Ausstellungsprogramm einschließlich museumspädagogischem Angebot.
