La ferme, construite vers 1680, est en grande partie conservée dans son état d'origine. Elle constitue un espace de présentation de l'habitat rural du 18ème au 20ème siècle et présente des costumes traditionnels de Thuringe, une section d'histoire naturelle et une collection géologique dans le bâtiment annexe. Le centre d'information touristique, deux granges avec du matériel agricole du 17ème siècle à nos jours et une scierie avec un monument technique, la scie à cadre, datant de 1900, en font partie. L'histoire du flottage de bois sur la Saale et les paysages engloutis dans le lac Hohenwartestausee sont illustrés.
The farmhouse, built around 1680, has been largely preserved in its original state, forms a room for the presentation of rural living culture from the 18th to 20th centuries and displays traditional Thuringian costumes, a natural history section and a geological collection in the outbuilding. There is also a tourist information center, two barns with agricultural machinery from the 17th century to the present day and a sawmill with the technical monument of the sawmill from around 1900. The history of rafting on the Saale and the landscapes submerged in the Hohenwart reservoir are illustrated.
ACHTUNG Das Volkskundemuseum Reitzengeschwenda ist leider wieder geschlossen! Das um 1680 erbaute Bauernhaus ist weitgehend im Original erhalten, bildet einen Raum für die Darstellung ländlicher Wohnkultur vom 18. bis 20. Jahrhundert und zeigt Thüringer Trachten, eine Naturkundliche Abteilung und eine geologische Sammlung im Nebengebäude. Dazugehörig sind die Touristinformation, zwei Scheunen mit Landtechnik vom 17. Jahrhundert bis zur Gegenwart und eine Sägemühle mit dem technischen Denkmal des Sägegatter um1900. Die Geschichte der Flößerei auf der Saale und die im Hohenwarte-Stausee versunkenen Landschaften werden veranschaulicht.
