Le jardin du château et le salon du jardin du château font partie de l'ensemble historique du château. Le jardin du château a été aménagé en 1661 comme jardin d'agrément baroque. Vers 1730, le salon du jardin du château a été construit au nord pour délimiter l'ensemble et est aujourd'hui utilisé pour des manifestations culturelles. Le jardin historique du château, entièrement rénové avec des accès pour les personnes handicapées et rendu plus attrayant pour les touristes en tant que partie de l'ensemble du château de la cathédrale, a été intégré en 2006 dans le réseau national "Gartenträume - Historische Parks in Sachsen-Anhalt" (Rêves de jardins - Parcs historiques en Saxe-Anhalt).Outre l'allée de châtaigniers baroque datant du 18ème siècle, le jardin du château a conservé quelques groupes d'arbres datant de la phase de transformation du paysage par Lennè. Deux paires d'obélisques rappellent les fondateurs de l'ensemble, le duc Christian Ier et son épouse Christiane ainsi que leur fils Christian II et son épouse Erdmuthe Dorothea, et depuis 1998, la statue équestre de Frédéric Guillaume III se trouve à nouveau dans le jardin du château. Du point de vue le plus à l'est du jardin, on a une vue impressionnante sur la Saale et le barrage. Le jardin du château est ouvert toute l'année à tous les visiteurs et offre, en tant que cœur vert au milieu de la ville, une détente loin du tumulte quotidien. Teil des historischen Schlossensembles sind der Schlossgarten und der Schlossgartensalon. Der Schlossgarten wurde 1661 als barocker Lustgarten angelegt. Um 1730 entstand dann als Begrenzung der Anlage im Norden der Schlossgartensalon, der heute für kulturelle Veranstaltungen genutzt wird. Der historische Schlossgarten, mit behindertengerechten Zugängen umfassend erneuert und als Teil des Dom- Schlossensembles für die Touristen attraktiver gestaltet, wurde 2006 in das landesweite Netzwerk „Gartenträume – Historische Parks in Sachsen-Anhalt“ integriert. Neben der aus dem 18. Jahrhundert stammenden barocken Kastanienallee blieben im Schlossgarten noch einzelne Gehölzgruppen aus der Phase der landschaftlichen Umgestaltung durch Lennè erhalten. Zwei Obeliskenpaare erinnern an die Gründer der Anlage, Herzog Christian I. und seine Gemahlin Christiane sowie deren Sohn Christian II. und seine Gemahlin Erdmuthe Dorothea und seit 1998 steht das Reiterstandbild Friedrich Wilhelm III. wieder im Schlossgarten. Vom östlichsten Aussichtspunkt des Gartens hat man einen beeindruckenden Blick über Saale und Wehr.
