Das Dorf Heyda liegt 6 km nördlich von der Stadt Ilmenau entfernt. Die Straße von Ilmenau durch Unterpörlitz nach Heyda führt durch ausgedehnte Kiefernwälder in denen reichlich Beeren und Pilze wachsen. Der Ort Heyda wurde erstmals im Jahre 1351 urkundlich erwähnt. Heyda muss allerdings schon früher existiert haben, denn eine Eintragung in einer Paulinzellaer Chronik aus dem Jahre 1282 lautet: "Es ist eine Siedlung in der Heide, die besonders mit Birken und Eichen bewachsen ist." Die Talsperre liegt ca. 1,2 km vom Ort entfernt. Sie hat eine Wasserfläche von 100 a und einen Inhalt von 5,4 Mio. m³. Für Erholungssuchende und Urlauber ist sie wie ein Magnet. Sie ist ein wahres Paradies für viele Arten von Wasservögeln. Ein Rundwanderweg um die Talsperre zeigt die Schönheit der Natur.

La route d'Ilmenau à Heyda, en passant par Unterpörlitz, traverse de vastes forêts de pins où poussent en abondance baies et champignons. Le village de Heyda est mentionné pour la première fois dans un document en 1351. Heyda doit cependant avoir existé plus tôt, car une entrée dans une chronique de Paulinzella datant de 1282 indique : "C'est un établissement dans la lande, particulièrement envahi de bouleaux et de chênes". Le barrage est situé à environ 1,2 km du village. Il a une surface d'eau de 100 a et un contenu de 5,4 millions de m³. C'est un véritable aimant pour les amateurs de loisirs et les vacanciers. C'est un véritable paradis pour de nombreuses espèces d'oiseaux aquatiques. Une promenade circulaire autour du barrage montre la beauté de la nature.

The village of Heyda is located 6 km north of the town of Ilmenau. The road from Ilmenau through Unterpörlitz to Heyda leads through extensive pine forests where berries and mushrooms grow abundantly. The village of Heyda was first mentioned in a document in 1351. Heyda must have existed earlier, however, because an entry in a Paulinzella chronicle from 1282 reads: "It is a settlement in the heath, especially overgrown with birches and oaks." The dam is located about 1.2 km from the village. It has a water surface of 100 a and a content of 5.4 million m³. It is like a magnet for recreation seekers and holidaymakers. It is a true paradise for many species of water birds. A circular hiking trail around the dam shows the beauty of nature.
