Thonhausen ist eine Gemeinde im Süden des thüringischen Landkreises Altenburger Land. Sie gehört zur Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Oberes Sprottental. Der Ort hat sich hier als Faden- bzw. Waldhufendorf entwickelt. Alte Fachwerkhäuser sowie Vier- bzw. Drei-Seiten-Höfe beiderseits des Baches bestimmen den für Thüringen typischen Baustil. Die Ortsteile von Thonhausen sind Schönhaide und Wettelswalde.

Thonhausen is a municipality in the south of the Thuringian district of Altenburger Land. It belongs to the administrative community of Oberes Sprottental. The village has developed as a village of thread and forest hooves. Old half-timbered houses and four- and three-sided farmsteads on both sides of the stream characterize the typical Thuringian architectural style. The districts of Thonhausen are Schönhaide and Wettelswalde.
