Cette église à nef unique, dotée d'un chœur en retrait de forme presque carrée, a été construite en 1680, probablement en réutilisant des éléments de l'édifice précédent. À la suite d'un incendie survenu en 1719, des travaux de restauration et de réaménagement ont été entrepris ; ceux-ci se sont sans doute poursuivis jusqu'en 1739, date indiquée sur la girouette. Entre 1873 et 1875, l'édifice fut rénové et une sacristie en forme d'abside orientale fut ajoutée. Une restauration complète fut menée de 1986 à 1993. L'orgue a été construit en 1835 par Johann Christian Adam Gerhard ; il s'agit de sa dernière œuvre. Rénovation en 1863/64 par Adalbert Förtzsch, de Blankenhain, agrandissement et transformation en 1917/20 par Friedrich Wilhelm Heerwagen, de Weimar, ainsi qu’une refonte sonore en 1973/74 par Speerschneider, de Weimar. Une révision partielle de l'instrument a eu lieu de 2004 à 2007.

The single-nave church, featuring a recessed, nearly square chancel tower, was built in 1680, possibly using parts of the previous structure. Following a fire in 1719, restoration and refurbishment began, which presumably continued until 1739, the date inscribed on the weather vane. Between 1873 and 1875, the building was renovated and a sacristy in the form of an eastern apse was added. A comprehensive restoration was carried out from 1986 to 1993. The organ was built in 1835 by Johann Christian Adam Gerhard as his final work. In 1863–64, it was remodeled by Adalbert Förtzsch of Blankenhain; in 1917–20, it was expanded and remodeled by Friedrich Wilhelm Heerwagen of Weimar; and in 1973–74, its sound was redesigned by Speerschneider of Weimar. A partial overhaul of the instrument took place from 2004 to 2007.
