Although Martin Luther himself was never in Bad Rodach, the town played an important role in the history of the Reformation. Representatives from Electoral Saxony, Brandenburg-Ansbach, Hesse, Strasbourg, Nuremberg, and Ulm met in early June 1529 in the St. Johannis church in present-day Bad Rodach to avoid a looming war with a Protestant defensive alliance. In connection with the "Rodacher Abschied" they agreed on the "Rodacher Notel," a mutual, including military, assistance pact. These agreements were incorporated into the Schmalkaldic League constitution. Luther’s legacy continues in Heldburg, where nearly 100 years later the Protestant theologian Johann Gerhard, one of the most important Lutheran clergymen, was active. An interesting story also belongs to the church in Heldburg, which was originally planned as a Catholic church but was completed as a Protestant church.

Martin Luther ne s'est certes jamais rendu lui-même à Bad Rodach, mais la ville a néanmoins écrit une part importante de l'histoire de la Réforme. Début juin 1529, les représentants de Kursachsen, Brandenburg-Ansbach, Hesse, Strasbourg, Nuremberg et Ulm se sont réunis dans l'église Saint-Jean de la ville de Bad Rodach actuelle afin d'éviter une guerre imminente à travers une alliance de défense protestante. En relation avec le « Rodacher Abschied », ils se sont mis d'accord sur la « Rodacher Notel », une assistance mutuelle, y compris militaire. Ces accords sont entrés dans la Constitution de la Ligue de Schmalkalden. Les traces de Luther mènent plus loin vers Heldburg, où environ 100 ans plus tard, le théologien protestant Johann Gerhard, l'un des plus importants ecclésiastiques luthériens, a exercé. Une histoire intéressante est également liée à l'église de Heldburg, qui avait d'abord été conçue comme un lieu de culte catholique puis achevée en tant qu'église protestante.

Die Bevollmächtigten von Kursachsen, Brandenburg-Ansbach, Hessen, Straßburg, Nürnberg und Ulm trafen sich Anfang Juni 1529 in der Stadtkirche St. Johannis im heutigen Bad Rodach, um mit einem protestantischen Verteidigungsbündnis einen drohenden Krieg zu vermeiden.  In Verbindung mit dem "Rodacher Abschied" einigte man sich auf die "Rodacher Notel", einen gegenseitigen, auch militärischen Beistand. Diese Vereinbarungen gingen in die Schmalkaldische Bundesverfassung ein. Die Spuren Luthers führen weiter nach Heldburg, wo knapp 100 Jahre später mit dem protestantischen Theologen Johann Gerhard einer der wichtigsten lutherischen Geistlichen wirkte. Eine interessante Geschichte gehört ebenfalls zu der Heldburger Kirche, die zunächst als katholisches Gotteshaus geplant und dann als protestantische Kirche fertiggestellt wurde.
