From Schloss Elisabethenburg, the former residence of the Dukes of Saxe-Meiningen, the hike leads through the Herrenberg forest park to the most popular viewpoint overlooking the town, the Diezhäuschen, also called the "most beautiful balcony of Meiningen" by the locals. From here it continues on narrow paths through mixed beech forests to the Schaubachhütte viewpoint and to the foot of Schloss Landsberg, the neo-Gothic summer residence of the Dukes of Saxe-Meiningen. The next stop is the Habichtsburg ruins, which tower above the former trade route between Würzburg and Gotha. From there, via the Prinz-Ernst-Platz with a rest area, it goes to Henriettenplatz. Here a detailed rest under beautiful maple trees is worthwhile, with wonderful panoramas over the hilly distance of the Rhön included. Before returning to Schloss Elisabethenburg, you reach the Goetz Cave, the largest accessible crevice and fissure cave in Europe.

Depuis le Château d'Elisabethenburg, ancienne résidence des ducs de Saxe-Meiningen, la randonnée passe par le parc forestier Herrenberg jusqu'au point de vue préféré sur la ville, le Diezhäuschen, que les habitants appellent aussi "le plus beau balcon de Meiningen". À partir de là, le chemin étroit serpente à travers des forêts de hêtres mixtes jusqu'au point de vue Schaubachhütte et à pied du Château de Landsberg, la résidence d'été néo-gothique des ducs de Saxe-Meiningen. La station suivante est la ruine de Habichtsburg, qui domine l'ancienne route commerciale entre Würzburg et Gotha.  Via la place Prinz-Ernst, avec un banc pour la pause, on arrive à la place Henrietten. Une pause prolongée sous de magnifiques érables est conseillée ici, avec de magnifiques panoramas sur les vallonnements lointains de la Rhön inclus. Avant de revenir au Château d'Elisabethenburg, vous atteindrez la grotte de Goetz, la plus grande crevasse et grotte à fissures accessible en Europe.

Von Schloß Elisabethenburg aus, der ehemaligen Residenz der Herzöge von Sachsen-Meiningen, führt die Wanderung durch den Waldpark Herrenberg zum beliebtesten Aussichtspunkt auf die Stadt, dem Diezhäuschen, von den Meiningern auch als "schönster Balkon Meiningens" tituliert. Ab hier geht es auf schmalen Pfaden durch Buchenmischwälder bis zum Aussichtspunkt Schaubachhütte und zum Fuße von Schloß Landsberg, der neugotischen Sommerresidenz der Herzöge von Sachsen-Meiningen. Die nächste Station ist die Ruine Habichtsburg, die über der ehemaligen Handelsstraße zwischen Würzburg und Gotha thront.  Über den Prinz-Ernst-Platz mit Pause-Plätzchen gehts zum Henriettenplatz. Hier lohnt sich eine ausführliche Rast unter wunderschönen Ahornbäumen, herrliche Panoramen über die hügeligen Fernen der Rhön inklusive. Bevor Sie zu Schloss Elisabethenburg zurückkehren, erreichen Sie die Goetz-Höhle, die größte begehbare Kluft- und Spaltenhöhle Europas.
