Die attraktive Kleinstadt Geisa gilt als wirtschaftlich-industrielles und kulturelles Zentrum des mittleren Ulstertales. Wir starten an der Freizeitanlage „Ulsteraue“, hier bieten Spielplätze, ein groß angelegter Wasserspielplatz, ein Kneipp-Becken, verschiedene Sportgeräte und Picknickbänke ein abwechslungsreiches Freizeitangebot für Groß und Klein. Der gesamte Bereich ist kinderwagentauglich. Von dort aus geht es auf einem naturbelassenen Weg zum Gangolfiberg hinauf (Höhenunterschied: 290 m ü NN bis 320 m ü NN). Danach erreichen wir ein „Grünes Klassenzimmer“ an der Hellen Grotte und den Kletterparcours für Kinder in der Dunklen Grotte. Auf dem Rückweg ist ein Abstecher in die Altstadt sehr lohnenswert. Neben dem Marktbrunnen ist die Stadtpfarrkirche St. Philippus und Jakobus ein Sightseeing-Highlight. Dank des Carillons, einem großen, spielbaren Glockenspiel im Turm der Stadtpfarrkirche, wird es hier auch Kindern nicht langweilig. Noch ein bisschen Kultur gefällig? Wie wäre es mit der ANNELIESE-DESCHAUER-Galerie oder mit dem Stadtmuseum? Danach kann man wieder gemütlich über das Schlossplatzensemble laufen und das Zentgericht sowie die gut erhaltene Stadtmauer mit ihren Wehrtürmen besichtigen. Am Weg finden sich so allerhand Erlebnis-Elemente. Dazu zählen beispielsweise die "lesende Geiß", eine Fotowand und ein Guckrohr. Auch eine Relaxliege ist oberhalb der Ulsteraue zu finden. Dieser Weg wurde durch die Europäische Union und den Freistaat Thüringen mit EFRE-Mitteln gefördert.

The attractive small town of Geisa is considered an economic-industrial and cultural center of the middle Ulster valley. We start at the recreational facility "Ulsteraue", which offers playgrounds, a large water playground, a Kneipp basin, various sports equipment and picnic benches - a varied leisure offer for young and old. The entire area is stroller-friendly. From there, it goes up a natural path to the Gangolfiberg (altitude difference: 290 m above sea level to 320 m above sea level). We then reach a "green classroom" at the Helle Grotte and the climbing course for children in the Dunkle Grotte. On the way back, a detour to the old town is highly recommended. Next to the market fountain, the parish church St. Philippus and Jakobus is a sightseeing highlight. Thanks to the carillon, a large playable bell chime in the tower of the parish church, even children do not get bored here. Want a bit more culture? How about the ANNELIESE-DESCHAUER gallery or the city museum? Afterwards, you can stroll comfortably through the castle square ensemble and visit the Zentgericht and the well-preserved city wall with its defensive towers. Along the way, you will find all kinds of experience elements. These include, for example, the "reading goat", a photo wall and a peephole. A relaxation lounger is also located above the Ulsteraue. This path was funded by the European Union and the Free State of Thuringia with ERDF funds.
