Le départ se fait au parking du château Ehrenstein. Après le pont d'Ohr, il faut choisir entre la direction de la place du marché ou du parc municipal. Nous choisissons maintenant la direction de la place du marché, accessible par le nouvel escalier des chats. La place est dominée par la mairie de style Jugendstil. Elle est bordée de remarquables maisons paysannes, en grande partie restaurées avec soin. En 1753 et 1808, de grands incendies ont causé d'importants dégâts. De nombreuses maisons autour de la place portent la date de construction 1808. En passant par la fontaine des cordonniers, on atteint l'église Sainte-Trinité où se trouve la gare routière. C'est également un point de départ possible dans les deux directions. Par la rue forestière, on rejoint le chemin blanc qui mène jusqu'à la colline du château. Il sépare un pâturage d'une forêt mixte riche en espèces. Le site naturel protégé de la prairie Kuhhalter est un point notable. À partir de là, on traverse une forêt mixte de robustes épicéas, hêtres et mélèzes. Avec un peu de chance, on peut observer le pic noir dans cette zone. La auberge forestière Scherershütte n’est pas loin. Les bosquets de bâtons offrent une ombre agréable sur le chemin vers l'étang de pelouse. Cet étang est un biotope très riche en espèces, idéal pour une pause prolongée. Par le chemin des bouleaux et la rue Scherershütte, on revient en ville. La prochaine étape est le parc municipal avec le monument à la famille de musiciens Bach. Le long de la muraille, on continue jusqu'au point de départ au parc du château.

The start is the parking lot at Ehrenstein Castle. After crossing the Ohrabrücke, you have to decide whether to choose the direction toward the Market Square or the City Park. We now choose the direction toward the Market Square. It can be reached via the newly reconstructed Katz Staircase. The market is dominated by the Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) town hall. The square is lined with impressive and mostly lovingly restored farmer's houses. In 1753 and 1808 there were major city fires causing severe damage. On many houses around the market, the construction year 1808 is therefore indicated. Passing the Shoemaker Fountain, you reach St. Trinitatis Church. The bus station is located there. At this point, you can also start the loop in both directions. Via Waldstraße you reach the White Path, which leads to Castle Hill. It separates a pasture landscape and a species-rich mixed forest. A special feature is the Kuhhalter Meadow nature monument. From there you move through a mixed forest of mighty spruces, beeches, and larches. With some luck, the black woodpecker can also be observed in this area. The Forest Guesthouse Scherershütte is not far away. The Staff Bushes give pleasant shade on the further way to the lawn pond. The lawn pond is a very species-rich biotope where a longer break is always worthwhile. Along Birkenweg and Scherershütte Street you get back to the city. The next stop is the City Park with the monument to the Bach musician family. Along the city wall, the route continues back to the starting point at the Castle Park.

Start ist der Parkplatz am Schloss Ehrenstein. Nach der Ohrabrücke muss man sich entscheiden, ob man die Richtung zum Marktplatz oder zum Stadtpark wählt. Wir entscheiden uns jetzt für die Richtung zum Marktplatz. Dieser ist über die neu rekonstruierte Katzentreppe zu erreichen. Dominiert wird der Markt vom Rathaus im Jugendstil. Den Platz säumen eindrucksvolle und größtenteils liebevoll restaurierte Ackerbürgerhäuser. In den Jahren 1753 und 1808 kam es zu großen Stadtbränden die schwere Zerstörungen anrichteten. An vielen Häusern um den Markt ist daher als Baujahr 1808 lesen. Vorbei am Schusterbrunnen gelangt man an die Kirche St. Trinitatis. Dort befindet sich der Busbahnhof. An dieser Stelle kann man auch in beiden Richtungen in die  Runde starten. Über die Waldstraße gelangt man zum Weißen Weg, der bis an den Schlossberg führt. Er trennt eine Weidelandschaft und ein artenreiches Mischwäldchen. Als ein besonderer Punkt ist das Flächennaturdenkmal Kuhhalterwiese zu erwähnen. Ab da bewegt man sich durch einen Mischwald aus mächtigen Fichten, Buchen und Lerchen. Mit etwas Glück kann man in diesem Bereich auch den Schwarzspecht beobachten. Nicht weit ist es bis zur Waldgaststätte Scherershütte. Die Stabsbüsche spenden auf den weiteren Weg zum Rasenteich angenehmen Schatten.  Der Rasenteich stellt ein sehr artenreiches Biotop dar, an dem sich eine längere Pause immer lohnt.  Auf dem Birkenweg und der Scherershütten Straße gelangt man wieder in die Stadt. Das nächste Ziel ist der Stadtpark mit dem Denkmal für die Musikerfamilie Bach. Entlang der Stadtmauer geht es weiter bis zum Ausgangspunkt am Schlosspark.
