Depuis le parking Herzogröder Wiese, nous traversons la voie forestière avec une montée régulière jusqu’au musée Goethe Jagdhaus Gabelbach. En tournant à gauche au Jagdhaus Gabelbach, on arrive après environ 200 m à l’hôtel Gabelbach. En continuant la montée, via la place Stadtilmer, nous atteignons le petit Goethe. Après environ 200 m, nous sommes au sommet du Kickelhahn, qui s’élève à 861 m d’altitude. Devant nous se dresse la tour d’observation de 24 m de haut, d’où la vue panoramique s’étend largement sur la forêt de Thuringe et sa plaine septentrionale et orientale.

From the WPP Herzogröder Wiese, we cross the forest road with a steady ascent to the Goethe Museum Jagdhaus Gabelbach. Turning left at Jagdhaus Gabelbach, after about 200 m you will reach the Hotel Gabelbach. Further uphill over Stadtilmer Platz, we reach the Goethe House. After about 200 m, we are on the 861 m above sea level high summit of the Kickelhahn. In front of us stands the 24 m high observation tower, from which a wide panoramic view over the Thuringian Forest and its northern and eastern foreland is possible.

Vom WPP Herzogröder Wiese überqueren wir die Waldstraße mit stetigen Anstieg bis zum Goethemuseum Jagdhaus Gabelbach. Am Jagdhaus Gabelbach links abzweigend kommt man nach ca. 200 m zum Hotel Gabelbach. Weiter bergauf über den Stadtilmer Platz erreichen wir das Goethehäuschen. Nach ca. 200 m sind wir auf  dem 861 m ü. NN hohen Gipfel des Kickelhahns. Vor uns steht der 24 m hohe Aussichtsturm, von dem aus eine weite Rundumsicht über den Thüringer Wald und dessen nördliches und östliches Vorland möglich ist.
