Auf dieser biegen wir rechts ab und gleich die nächste wieder links ab, um so die B88 zu überqueren. Dort treffen wir auf einen schmalen Wanderweg der uns unterhalb des kleinen Ebertsberges (375 m) und auch unterhalb des großen Ebertsberges (398) leitet. Beim Abzweig Richtung Berlinchen laufen wir ein Stück parallel der B88 auf dem Tannhäuser Radweg und queren erneut am Wasserwerk Berlinchen die B88 nach einigen hundert Metern. Wir folgen ein Stück dem breiten Weg "Im Unterland" Richtung Kittelsthal und biegen dann links Richtung Kittelsthaler Tropfsteinhöhle ab. Eine erste Rast in der Gaststätte "Zur Tropfsteinhöhle" sollte man sich hier gönnen, ehe es weiter zum Spitzigen Stein geht. Hier lohnt es sich, einen Aufstieg zu wagen, um die Aussicht auf die umliegenden Wälder zu genießen. Wir laufen weiter Richtung Kittelsthaler Kalkteich und kommen an einer ehemaligen Klosterstätte vorbei. Überereste sind an der Wüstung "Klosterfeld" allerdings nicht mehr zu erkennen. Nachdem wir eine Zeit lang durch schönen Wald gewandert sind, treffen wir bald auf den "Hohe-Sonne-Weg", welcher uns zum Schreiberbrunnen führt. Hier können Sie sich ein wenig erfrischen, ehe erneut die B88 überquert wird und wir von der Ruhlaer Straße rechts in die Philosophenpromenade abbiegen. Sie endet in einem schönen Wanderweg, der uns schließlich auf die Schoßbergpromenade, vorbei am Glockenhäuschen und am Erbbegräbnis der Familie von Uetterodt, führt. Entlang der Schossbergpromenade kommen wir nun endlich am Aussichtstürmchen "Tempelchen" an und genießen den Blick über den Ort Thal. Von der Schossbergpromenade geht es nun direkt auf die Rösickestraße. Wir biegen rechts in die Seebacher Straße ab, um gleich links auf die Scharfenbergpromenade zu gelangen. Sie sollten unbedingt noch den Aufstieg zur Scharfenburg machen. Der Bergfried wurde liebevoll vom Heimatverein Thal e.V. saniert. Eine kleine Ausstellung befindet sich im Turm. Dieser kann zu jeder Jahreszeit besichtigt werden und ist kostenlos. (Geöffnet ist der Burgturm täglich von Mai - September von 9 - 20 Uhr sowie von Oktober - April 10 - 16 Uhr) Nachdem wir den Ausblick in des Erbstromtal hinter uns gelassen haben, steigen wir wieder ab, um wieder auf die Scharfenbergpromenade zu kommen und schließlich an unseren Ausgangspunkt, dem Thaler Schwimmbad, zu gelangen.
