Der Winterwanderweg erschließt die Hochlage des Lehestener Gemeindegebietes zwischen 658 und 793 m üNN. Er besitzt Anbindungen in Richtung Wurzbach und Reichenbach (Oberfranken). Die Wetzsteinloipe verläuft zu 90% auf bzw. parallel zu gekennzeichneten Wanderwegen, deren Wanderwegweiser zusätzliche Orientierungshilfe bieten. An allen Kreuzungspunkten wurden Skiwanderwegkennzeichen angebracht, so dass der Skiläufer sein Ziel nicht verfehlen kann. Durch den leichten Verlauf eignet sich die Wanderung auch für Familien sehr gut. Im Verlauf liegen die Schutzhütten am Kurfürstenstein und die Jagdhütte Kreuzstraße sowie die Wanderhütte des Thüringer-Wald-Vereins. Höchster Punkt des Skiwanderweges ist der 793 m hohe Wetzstein, auf dessen Gipfel der Altvaterturm trohnt. Hier bietet sich eine Rast in der Turmgaststätte an.

Le parcours de randonnée hivernal ouvre la zone d'altitude de la commune de Lehesten entre 658 et 793 m s. n. m. Il offre des liaisons en direction de Wurzbach et Reichenbach (Haute-Franconie). La piste de ski de fond Wetzstein suit à 90 % des sentiers de randonnée balisés ou parallèles à ceux-ci, dont les panneaux indicateurs offrent une aide supplémentaire à l'orientation. Des panneaux de sentier de ski ont été installés à toutes les intersections pour que le skieur ne puisse pas se tromper de chemin. Grâce à son tracé facile, la randonnée est aussi très adaptée aux familles. Sur le parcours se trouvent les abris au Kurfürstenstein, la cabane de chasse Kreuzstraße ainsi que le refuge du club de la Forêt de Thuringe. Le point culminant du sentier de ski est le Wetzstein, haut de 793 m, sur lequel trône l'Altvaterturm. Une halte est possible dans le restaurant de la tour.

The winter hiking trail opens up the high altitude area of the Lehesten municipal territory between 658 and 793 m above sea level. It has connections towards Wurzbach and Reichenbach (Upper Franconia). The Wetzstein ski trail runs 90% on or parallel to marked hiking paths, whose trail signs offer additional orientation. At all intersections, ski trail markers have been placed so that skiers cannot miss their destination. Due to the gentle route, the hike is also very suitable for families. Along the route are the shelters at Kurfürstenstein and the Kreuzstraße hunting lodge as well as the hiking hut of the Thuringian Forest Association. The highest point of the ski trail is the 793 m high Wetzstein, crowned by the Altvaterturm. Here, a rest is offered at the tower guesthouse.
