Der Geraer Stadtwald ist ein landschaftlich vielseitiges und ökologisch wertvolles Biotop und wird als Naherholungsgebiet durch die Bevölkerung genutzt. Der Stadtwald ist ein ausgewiesenes Landschaftsschutzgebiet sowie ein durch EU-Recht geschütztes FFH-Gebiet. Hier gibt es Vorkommen vieler streng geschützter und gefährdeter Arten, insbesondere Fledermäuse, wie z.B. Mops- und Mückenfledermaus oder Großes Mausohr. Bereits Mitte der 1970er Jahre, wurde im Geraer Stadtwald der „Naturlehrpfad Gera-West“ angelegt. Durch Vandalismus und sinkendes Interesse der Bevölkerung bzw. veränderte Ansprüche der Nutzer geriet der Lehrpfad in den letzten Jahren jedoch immer mehr in Vergessenheit und war zum Schluss nur noch rudimentär erlebbar. Aus dem innigen Wunsch heraus, den Gedanken und auch das Erbe des ursprünglichen „Naturlehrpfades Gera-West“ für nachfolgende Generationen zu bewahren und gleichzeitig heutiges Wissen mit innovativen Möglichkeiten der Vermittlung zu verbinden, entstand die Idee den Lehrpfad in digitaler Form zu revitalisieren. Seit März 2023 können Schulklassen, Familien und allen Naturinteressierten den Geraer Stadtwald neu erleben und werden dabei auf der ca. 6 km langen Strecke von einer App geleitet. Entlang des Weges erfährt man an 12 Stationen durch Fotos, Videos und kurze, altersgerechte Text- und Audioerläuterungen Wissenswertes rund ums Thema Wald und dessen Bewohner. An jeder Station gibt es ein kleines Quiz. Bei richtiger Beantwortung erhält man jeweils ein Magisches Tier, was im Geraer Stadtwald vorkommt. Die einzelnen Themen werden in der App kompakt erläutert. Weiterführende Informationen zu den Stationen und zu den Magischen Tieren, können über die Website www.walderlebnispfad-gera.de abgerufen werden. An der Untermhäuser Brücke (Seite Hofwiesenpark) befindet sich der Fledermausdetektor. Hier kann man Hörbeispiele unterschiedlicher Fledermausrufe abspielen sowie in der Dämmerung live die Rufe der vorbeifliegenden Fledermäuse anhören. Der Fledermausdetektor ist nur während der Öffnungszeiten des Hofwiesenparkes frei zugänglich (ganzjährig, täglich 6.00 – 23.00 Uhr).

La forêt urbaine de Gera est un biotope paysager varié et écologiquement précieux, utilisée comme zone de loisirs par la population. La forêt urbaine est une zone protégée du paysage désignée ainsi qu'une zone FFH protégée par la législation européenne. On y trouve de nombreuses espèces strictement protégées et menacées, notamment les chauves-souris, telles que le Noctule, la pipistrelle ou le Grand rhinolophe. Depuis le milieu des années 1970, le "sentier nature Gera-Ouest" a été aménagé dans la forêt urbaine de Gera. En raison du vandalisme et d'un intérêt décroissant de la population ainsi que des exigences modifiées des utilisateurs, le sentier a été de plus en plus oublié ces dernières années et n'était plus qu'à peine accessible à la fin. Du profond désir de préserver l'esprit et l'héritage du "sentier nature Gera-Ouest" original pour les générations futures et de combiner simultanément les connaissances actuelles avec des possibilités innovantes de transmission, est née l'idée de revitaliser le sentier sous forme numérique. Depuis mars 2023, les classes scolaires, les familles et tous les passionnés de nature peuvent redécouvrir la forêt urbaine de Gera et sont guidés sur le trajet d'environ 6 km par une application. Le long du chemin, on découvre à 12 stations des informations intéressantes grâce à des photos, des vidéos et de courtes explications adaptées à l'âge sous forme de textes et d'audios autour du thème de la forêt et de ses habitants. À chaque station, il y a un petit quiz. En répondant correctement, on reçoit chacun un animal magique présent dans la forêt urbaine de Gera. Les thèmes individuels sont expliqués de manière concise dans l'application. Des informations complémentaires sur les stations et les animaux magiques peuvent être consultées sur le site www.walderlebnispfad-gera.de. Au pont Untermhäuser (côté Hofwiesenpark) se trouve le détecteur de chauves-souris. On peut y écouter des exemples de cris de différentes chauves-souris et entendre en direct au crépuscule les cris des chauves-souris qui volent. Le détecteur de chauves-souris est accessible gratuitement uniquement pendant les heures d'ouverture du Hofwiesenpark (toute l'année, quotidiennement de 6h00 à 23h00).

From the sincere desire to preserve the idea and the legacy of the original "Nature Trail Gera-West" for future generations and simultaneously connect today's knowledge with innovative possibilities of communication, the idea was born to revitalize the trail in digital form. Since March 2023, school classes, families, and all nature enthusiasts can experience the Gera city forest anew and are guided by an app along the approximately 6 km long route. Along the path, at 12 stations, you can learn interesting facts about the forest and its inhabitants through photos, videos, and short age-appropriate text and audio explanations. At each station, there is a small quiz. Correct answers earn you a Magical Animal that inhabits the Gera city forest. At the Untermhäuser Bridge (Hofwiesenpark side) is the bat detector. Here you can play sound samples of different bat calls and listen live to the calls of passing bats at dusk. The bat detector is only freely accessible during the opening hours of Hofwiesenpark (year-round, daily 6:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.).
