Auf zirka 1,4 km durchwandern Sie den nordwestlichen Tell des Frankenwaldes. Nach Überquerung der Hauptstraße (!) von Spechtsbrunn nach Tettau bietet Ihnen der gerade Verlauf des Rennsteigs einen weiteren Blick bis zum Glashügel, den Sie in 500 m erreichen. Der Glashügel ist ein Doppelberg mit 735,3 bzw. 741,2 m und ist einer der höchsten Erhebungen des Frankenwaldes. Er bildet zugleich die Wasserscheide zwischen dem Rhein-und dem Elbeeinzugsgebiet. Alles was vom Glashügel nach Süden über die Tettau fließt, einem Nebenfluss der Rodach, mündet in den Main (Rhein) bzw. alles was nach Norden über die Zopte fließt, fließt in Richtung Saale (Elbe). Südlich des Glashügels führt der Rennsteig entlang und am ehemaligen Waldeingang beginnt der sogenannte „Dichterwald“. Nach insgesamt 1,2 km erreichen Sie die Schleifenwiese mit der Offenlandschaft der typischen Bergwiesenlandschaft im Frankenwald, um nach weiteren 200 m zum Zwischenziel der Winterwanderung zu kommen. Nach Erreichen am Kreuzungspunkt der Schleifenwiese können Sie den Wanderweg wieder zum Ausgangspunkt Naturparkinformationszentrum zurückgehen.

Over about 1.4 km, you will hike through the northwestern part of the Franconian Forest. After crossing the main road (!) from Spechtsbrunn to Tettau, the straight course of the Rennsteig offers another view to the Glashügel, which you reach in 500 m. The Glashügel is a double mountain with 735.3 and 741.2 m and is one of the highest elevations of the Franconian Forest. It also forms the watershed between the Rhine and Elbe catchment areas. Everything that flows south from the Glashügel via the Tettau, a tributary of the Rodach, flows into the Main (Rhine), and everything that flows north via the Zopte flows toward the Saale (Elbe). South of the Glashügel the Rennsteig runs along, and at the former forest entrance begins the so-called "Dichterwald". After a total of 1.2 km you reach the Schleifenwiese with the open landscape of the typical mountain meadow landscape of the Franconian Forest, and after another 200 m you reach the interim destination of the winter hike. After reaching the intersection at the Schleifenwiese, you can return along the hiking trail to the starting point, the Nature Park Information Center.

Après avoir traversé la route principale (!) de Spechtsbrunn à Tettau, le tracé droit du Rennsteig vous offre une autre vue jusqu'à la colline de Glashügel, que vous atteignez en 500 m. Le Glashügel est un double sommet avec 735,3 et 741,2 m et fait partie des plus hautes élévations de la forêt de Franconie. Il constitue également la ligne de partage des eaux entre les bassins du Rhin et de l'Elbe. Tout ce qui s'écoule du Glashügel vers le sud par la Tettau, un affluent de la Rodach, rejoint le Main (Rhin), tandis que tout ce qui s'écoule vers le nord par la Zopte, va en direction de la Saale (Elbe). Au sud du Glashügel, le Rennsteig continue et à l'ancienne entrée de la forêt commence la soi-disant « forêt dense ». Après un total de 1,2 km, vous atteignez la Schleifenwiese avec le paysage ouvert typique des prairies de montagne de la forêt de Franconie, pour arriver après 200 m supplémentaires à l'objectif intermédiaire de la randonnée hivernale. Une fois arrivé au croisement de Schleifenwiese, vous pouvez revenir au point de départ au centre d'information du parc naturel.
