La tour Bismarck est l'un des symboles de la ville de Wettin. La tour Bismarck, haute de 21 mètres, se dresse sur un cône de porphyre boisé et constitue un but d'excursion très apprécié. De là, le regard embrasse la pittoresque vallée de la Saale, les témoins de l'exploitation houillère de Wettin, le Petersberg et, par beau temps, le Brocken. Il a été érigé en hommage à Otto von Bismarck. La planification a commencé en 1899, mais la construction n'a débuté que cinq ans plus tard. Elle a été construite en pierres de porphyre et ressemble beaucoup à certaines portes de villes du nord de l'Allemagne. Après avoir été désaffectée en tant que "tour de la paix" à la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale et après la destruction des références à Otto von Bismarck, elle a retrouvé en grande partie son aspect d'origine dans les années quatre-vingt-dix. La visite ne peut se faire que dans le cadre d'une visite guidée de la ville.
The Bismarck Tower is one of the landmarks of the town of Wettin. The 21-metre-high Bismarck Tower rises on a wooded porphyry cone and is a popular destination for excursions. From here, the view sweeps over the picturesque Saale valley, the witnesses of the Wettin coal mining industry, the Petersberg and, in good weather, the Brocken. It was erected to honor Otto von Bismarck. Planning began in 1899, but construction did not start until five years later. It was built from porphyry stone and is very similar in appearance to some North German town gates. After being rededicated as a "peace tower" after the end of the Second World War and the destruction of the references to Otto von Bismarck, it was largely restored to its original appearance in the 1990s. The tower can only be visited as part of a guided tour.
Der Bismarckturm ist eines der Wahrzeichen der Stadt Wettin. Der 21 Meter hohe Bismarckturm erhebt sich auf einem bewaldeten Porphyrkegel und ist ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel. Von hier aus schweift der Blick über das malerische Saaletal, die Zeugen des Wettiner Steinkohlebergbaus, den Petersberg und bei gutem Wetter auch den Brocken sehen. Er wurde zur Verehrung von Otto von Bismarck errichtet. Die Planung begann 1899, Baubeginn war jedoch erst fünf Jahre später. Er wurde aus Porphyrsteinen erbaut und ähnelt in seinem Aussehen stark einigen norddeutschen Stadttoren. Nach einer Umwidmung in einen "Friedensturm" nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges und der Zerstörung der Hinweise auf Otto von Bismarck erhielt er in den Neunzigerjahren sein ursprüngliches Aussehen größtenteils wieder zurück. Leider sind momentan verlässliche Öffnungszeiten nicht realisierbar. Es besteht die Möglichkeit einer Besichtigung im Rahmen einer Stadtführung.
