About: Das "Stockmacherdorf" Lindewerra

Lindewerra , a small village in the Eichsfeld is "the cane making village of Germany". As early as 1836 Wilhelm Ludwig Wagner began in Lindewerra with the production of walking aids from local oak saplings. He became an apprentice to many villagers and so the craft flourished. Around 1900 there was hardly a family that was not busy with "cane making". Today there is still a cane making workshop and the cane making museum in Lindewerra.

Er wurde Lehrmeister für viele Dorfbewohner und so blühte das Handwerk auf. Um 1900 gab es kaum eine Familie, die nicht mit dem "Stöckemachen" beschäftigt war. Heute gibt es noch eine Stockmacherei und das Stockmachermuseum in Lindewerra.
