Arriving by car at one of the free visitor parking lots, guests are guided to the old town by the tourist signage system. The local farmhouses with interesting house marks are in the Baroque style. They have been restored to their former glory thanks to consistent restoration work supervised by the monument protection authorities. The best place to start a tour of Querfurt's old town is the market square. This is dominated by the town hall, the core of which dates back to the late Gothic period and is still the seat of the town council today. Opposite is the town information office, where you can obtain flyers, souvenirs and further information. If you continue walking, you will come across the town wall, two thirds of which is still intact, giving visitors a good idea of Querfurt's former size. A visit to the late Gothic town church is just as worthwhile as a tour of the town cemetery, where tombs from five centuries can be found. The Thalgarten is idyllically situated and leads to Thaldorf, where the monument to St. Brun, the Braunsbrunnen, is located. In summer, a visit to the Querfurt municipal swimming pool at the foot of the castle is well worthwhile. Stainless steel pools with a sports and entertainment area, giant slide and diving tower offer relaxation for young and old. You can find out more about the history of the town and its most famous personalities, such as Johannes Schlaf, the important naturalist, or Jacob Christian Schäffer, the polymath and inventor of the washing machine, on a guided tour, which the town information office is happy to arrange. As a souvenir of a visit to Querfurt, we recommend a bottle of "Edler von Querfurt" wine, which is grown on the former monastery vineyard "St. Bruno" not far from the town, or the herbal liqueur "Dicker Heinrich", named after the large round keep on the castle.

Durch konsequent vom Denkmalschutz begleitete Sanierung konnte ihr alter Glanz wieder hergestellt werden. Einen Rundgang durch die Querfurter Altstadt beginnt man am besten auf dem Marktplatz. Dieser wird bestimmt vom Rathaus, dessen Kernbau aus der Spätgotik stammt und noch heute Sitz der Stadtverwaltung ist. Gegenüber befindet sich die Stadtinformation, wo man Flyer, Souvenirs und weitere Auskünfte erhält. Läuft man weiter, trifft man auf die noch zu zwei Dritteln erhaltene Stadtmauer, durch die der Besucher sehr gut die einstige Größe Querfurts nachvollziehen kann. Ein Besuch der spätgotischen Stadtkirche lohnt genauso wie ein Rundgang über den Stadtfriedhof, auf dem Grabmäler aus fünf Jahrhunderten zu finden sind. Idyllisch gelegen ist der Thalgarten, der nach Thaldorf geleitet, wo sich das Denkmal des Heiligen Bruns, der Braunsbrunnen, befindet. Im Sommer lohnt ein Besuch in dem am Fuße der Burg gelegenen Querfurter Stadtbad. Edelstahlbecken mit Sport- und Animationsbereich, Riesenrutsche und Sprungturm bieten hier Erholung für Jung und Alt.
