About: Bibra

Dans la vallée du ruisseau du même nom, à environ 12 km au sud de Meiningen, se trouve ce qui était autrefois un village de chevaliers d'Empire. En 825, Bibra est mentionnée pour la première fois dans un acte de donation au monastère de Fulda. L'empereur Frédéric III a accordé le droit de marché en 1486, et depuis lors, Bibra est un marché. La famille des von Bibra, avec son emblème, le castor, a laissé des traces évidentes de son activité. Le plus important fut le prévôt de la cathédrale de Würzburg, le Dr Kilian von Bibra, qui, en tant que donateur principal, posa le 14 juillet 1492 la première pierre de la construction de l'église représentative de St Leo à Bibra, dans laquelle se trouvent d'importants autels de Tilman Riemenschneider. Pendant longtemps, la famille des zu Bibra a été liée à Würzburg et à la Franconie. Lorenz et Konrad zu Bibra résidaient en tant qu'évêque de Würzburg et duc de Franconie. Trois bâtiments importants ont survécu à l'histoire mouvementée du village : le château fort, le château inférieur et l'église. Le château inférieur de Bibra a été construit en 1558 et est l'un des plus beaux bâtiments d'habitation en pierre de l'époque de la Renaissance dans cette région. Le château, entouré de douves et de murs - dont certains comportent encore des vestiges de l'ancien chemin de ronde - et flanqué de huit tours (quatre tours d'angle et quatre tours centrales), se dresse toujours en hauteur au centre du village. C'est à Bibra qu'a travaillé le prédicateur révolutionnaire Hans Hut, qui a hébergé Thomas Müntzer en 1524 et qui, pendant la guerre des paysans, a appelé du haut de la chaire à "tuer tous les Oberkait". Bibra compte actuellement 582 habitants sur une superficie de 970 hectares.

Im Jahr 825 wurde Bibra das erste mal in einer Schenkungsurkunde an das Kloster Fulda urkundlich erwähnt. Durch Kaiser Friedrich III. wurde 1486 das Marktrecht verliehen, seitdem wurde in Bibra Markt betrieben. Das Geschlecht derer von Bibra mit seinen Wappenzeichen, dem Biber, hinterließ deutliche Spuren seines Wirkens. Der bedeutendste war der Domprobst zu Würzburg, Dr. Kilian von Bibra, der als Hauptstifter am 14. Juli 1492 den Grundstein für den Bau der repräsentativen Kirche St. Leo zu Bibra legte, in der sich bedeutende Tilman-Riemenschneider-Altäre befinden. Lange Zeit war das Geschlecht derer zu Bibra mit Würzburg und Franken verbunden. Lorenz und Konrad zu Bibra residierten als Bischof von Würzburg und Herzog von Franken. Die wechselvolle Geschichte des Dorfes überstanden drei bedeutende Bauwerke: die Burg, das Untere Schloß und die Kirche. Das Untere Bibraer Schloß wurde 1558 erbaut und ist eines der schönsten aus Stein errichteten Wohngebäude aus der Zeit der Renaissance in dieser Gegend. Noch immer bietet sich an erhöhter Stelle im Zentrum des Ortes die von Wallgraben und Mauern -teilweise noch mit Resten des ehemaligen Wehrganges versehen- umgebene und mit acht Türmen (vier Eck- und vier Mitteltürme) umwehrte Burg imponierend dar. In Bibra wirkte der revolutionäre Prediger Hans Hut als Kirchendiener, der 1524 Thomas Müntzer hier beherbergte und im Bauernkrieg von der Kanzel herab dazu aufforderte "alle Oberkait totzuschlagen". In Bibra wohnen derzeit 582 Einwohner auf einer Gemarkungsfläche von 970 ha.
