After the construction of the late Gothic St. Michael's Church and shortly before the completion of the Renaissance town hall, which is worth seeing, a market fountain was erected in 1597 - when Buttstädt was hit by the plague for the second time. Archangel Michael - he is the patron saint of the town - towers in the center of the fountain and, according to a legend, cradles a child and the devil.
