Entlang der Saale gibt es oberhalb von Halle/Saale drei Möglichkeiten, mit der Fähre von einer Seite der Saale ans andere Ufer überzusetzen. Es handelt sich dabei um die Fährstellen in Wettin, Brachwitz und Brucke-Rothenburg. Autofähre Brachwitz Die Autofähre Brachwitz liegt am Saalekilometer 82,5 und hat eine Tragfähigkeit von bis zu 30 Tonnen. Sie wurde 1990 in der Binnenwerft Genthin gebaut und hat einen 24-KW-Dieselmotor als Antrieb. Die so genannte Wagengierseilfähre ist eine wichtige Verbindung auf dem Saaleradwanderweg.
