Die kleine Kirche befindet sich zentral im Dorfkern. Der reich geschmückte Turm geht auf 1588, das Kirchenschiff laut Inschrift auf 1743-1745 zurück. Die Kirche besitzt drei Graugussglocken. Im Innern bildet die Decke ein verputztes Holztonnengewölbe mit einem Stuckrahmen. Das Innere des Schiffes wird von zweigeschossigen barocken Emporen bestimmt, wie sie im 18. Jahrhundert in mehrere Kirchen des Tal der Ilm eingebaut wurden. Die Stützen der Emporen laufen bis zur Decke durch und tragen ein Gebälk, dem ein hölzernes Spiegelgewölbe aufsitzt. Die Orgel mit 15 Registern, verteilt auf 2 Manuale und Pedal, wurde in der Erbauungszeit der Kirche 1745 von Johann Georg Molau gebaut und 1935 von Gerhard Kirchner umgebaut. Die am Ilmtal-Radweg gelegen, helle, freundliche Kirche wurde als Radfahrerkirche ausgewiesen und lädt zum Ausruhen und Innehalten ein.

Wnętrze nawy dominują dwupiętrowe barokowe empory, takie jak te, które w XVIII wieku montowano w wielu kościołach w dolinie rzeki Ilm. Filary empor sięgają aż do stropu i podtrzymują belkowanie, na którym spoczywa drewniane sklepienie lustrzane. Organy z 15 rejestrami, rozmieszczonymi na 2 manuałach i pedale, zostały zbudowane w 1745 roku, w czasie budowy kościoła, przez Johanna Georga Molaua, a w 1935 roku przebudowane przez Gerharda Kirchnera. Ten jasny, przyjazny kościół, położony przy trasie rowerowej Doliny Ilm, został uznany za kościół dla rowerzystów i zachęca do odpoczynku i chwili refleksji.
