L'église du château Saint-Georges a été construite de 1404 à 1414 par les nouveaux seigneurs de Wettin dans le style gothique. Suite à un incendie en 1444, la voûte de l'église s'est effondrée et a été reconstruite dans le style gothique tardif sous la forme d'une voûte en étoile richement décorée et ornée de moulures. Entre 1644 et 1649, l'église fut réaménagée en style baroque par Christoph Richter, comme l'autel à deux étages, les stalles, les tribunes et la loge princière. Depuis la seconde moitié du 17e siècle, l'église sert également de lieu de sépulture pour la famille ducale. Le caveau princier se trouve dans la nef nord. L'orgue construit entre 1735 et 1739 par Tobias Heinrich Gottfried Trost a été joué entre autres par Johann Sebastian Bach et Johann Ludwig Krebs. Aujourd'hui encore, l'orgue Trost fait le bonheur des spécialistes comme des amateurs.
The castle church of St. George was built between 1404 and 1414 by the new Wettin lords in the Gothic style. The church vault collapsed in a fire in 1444 and was rebuilt in the late Gothic style as a richly decorated star vault with tracery decoration. Between 1644 and 1649, the church received some Baroque new furnishings by Christoph Richter, such as the two-storey altar, the pews, galleries and the prince's box. From the second half of the 17th century, the church also served as a burial place for the ducal family. The royal crypt is located in the north aisle. The organ, built between 1735 and 1739 by Tobias Heinrich Gottfried Trost, was played by Johann Sebastian Bach and Johann Ludwig Krebs, among others. To this day, the Trost organ delights both experts and amateurs alike.
Die Schlosskirche St. Georg wurde von 1404 bis 1414 von den neuen wettinischen Herren im gotischen Stil gebaut. Durch einen Brand im Jahr 1444 stürzte das Kirchengewölbe ein und wurde im spätgotischen Stil als reichgeschmücktes Sterngewölbe mit Maßwerkverzierung wieder aufgebaut. Die Kirche erhielt in den Jahren 1644 bis 1649 einige barocke Neuausstattungen von Christoph Richter, wie den zweistöckigen Altar, die Betstühle, Emporen und die Fürstenloge. Seit der zweiten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts fungiert die Kirche ebenso als Grabstätte für die herzogliche Familie. Die Fürstengruft befindet sich im Nordschiff. Auf der 1735 bis 1739 von Tobias Heinrich Gottfried Trost erbauten Orgel Orgel spielten unter anderem Johann Sebastian Bach und Johann Ludwig Krebs. Die Trost-Orgel erfreut bis heute Fach- wie Laienpublikum gleichermaßen.
