Le GeoPfad Gräfenthal est l'un des 4 petits circuits locaux, à côté des circuits de Probstzella, Lehesten et Ludwigsstadt, et permet de découvrir les roches ordiviques du groupe de Gräfenthal. Jusqu'au 19ème siècle, différentes ressources minérales ont été extraites à plusieurs endroits autour de la ville de Gräfenthal. Le long du circuit, des panneaux indiquent les particularités géologiques. La petite ville de Gräfenthal impressionne par son château de Wespenstein, qui surplombe la ville. Ce château médiéval se trouvait sur l'ancienne route militaire et commerciale Nuremberg-Leipzig. Un musée des frontières et de l'histoire locale renseigne sur l'histoire mouvementée de la ville. À seulement 300 m du musée, le circuit croise un imposant viaduc ferroviaire. Le circuit autour de Gräfenthal offre à plusieurs endroits des vues imposantes sur la vallée de la Zopte avec ses versants abrupts et la ville de Gräfenthal avec son château de Wespenstein. On peut citer ici surtout la Wedelshöhe, mais aussi le tronçon situé au sud de la ville.

The GeoPath Gräfenthal is one of 4 small local circular trails alongside the circular trails in Probstzella, Lehesten and Ludwigsstadt and provides access to the Ordovician rocks of the Gräfenthal Group. Until the 19th century, various mineral resources were extracted in several places around the town of Gräfenthal. Information boards along the circular trail point out the geological features. The small town of Gräfenthal impresses with Wespenstein Castle, situated high above the town. The medieval castle was located on the old Nuremberg-Leipzig military and trade route. A border and local history museum provides information about the town's eventful history. The circular trail crosses an impressive railroad viaduct just 300 m from the museum. The circular trail around Gräfenthal offers impressive views of the Zopte valley with its steep slopes and the town of Gräfenthal with Wespenstein Castle at several points. The Wedelshöhe is particularly worthy of mention here, as is the section to the south of the town.

Der GeoPfad Gräfenthal ist einer von 4 kleinen Ortsrundwegen neben den Rundwegen in Probstzella, Lehesten und Ludwigsstadt und erschließt die ordivizischen Gesteine der Gräfenthal-Gruppe.   Um die Stadt Gräfenthal wurden bis ins 19. Jahrhundert hinein an mehreren Stellen verschiedene Bodenschätze gewonnen. Am Rundweg weisen Tafeln auf die geologischen Besonderheiten hin. Das kleine Städtchen Gräfenthal beeindruckt durch das hoch über der Stadt gelegene Schloss Wespenstein. Die mittelalterliche Burg lag an der alten Heer- und Handelsstraße Nürnberg-Leipzig.  Ein Grenz- und Heimatmuseum gibt Aufschluss über die wechselvolle Geschichte der Stadt. Nur 300 m vom Museum entfernt kreuzt der Rundweg einen imposanten Eisenbahnviadukt. Der Rundweg um Gräfenthal bietet an mehreren Stellen  imposante Ausblicke auf das Zopte-Tal mit seinen steilen Hängen und die Stadt Gräfenthal mit Schloss Wespenstein. Hier ist vor allem die Wedelshöhe, aber auch der südlich der Stadt liegende Abschnitt zu nennen.
