Wilderei, das unberechtigte Jagen und Fangen von Wildtieren, war im Thüringer Wald und auch in der Umgebung von Gehlberg bis in die zweite Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts verbreitet. Manch armer Wäldler, Tagelöhner oder Arbeiter wilderte, um der hungrigen Familie auch einmal begehrtes Fleisch auf den Tisch zu bringen. Im Museumspark Gehlberg, im Wilderer-Museum, wird dieses Kapitel Thüringer Geschichte ausführlich beleuchtet. Der Wildererpfad will mit nachgebauten Fallen, Texttafeln und Fotos an den originalen Naturschauplätzen, Wilderei hautnah erlebbar machen.

Le braconnage, la chasse et la capture illégales d'animaux sauvages, étaient répandus dans la forêt de Thuringe et aussi dans les environs de Gehlberg jusqu'à la seconde moitié du 20e siècle. Certains pauvres forestiers, journaliers ou travailleurs braconnaient pour apporter de la viande précieuse à leur famille affamée. Poaching, the unauthorized hunting and catching of wild animals, was widespread in the Thuringian Forest and also in the area around Gehlberg until the second half of the 20th century. Some poor foresters, day laborers or workers poached in order to bring coveted meat to the hungrily waiting family. In the Museumspark Gehlberg, in the Wilderer Museum, this chapter of Thuringian history is extensively illuminated. The Wildererpfad aims to make poaching vividly tangible with reconstructed traps, text panels and photos at the original natural locations.
