Der Beginn dieser Etappe führt dich vorbei an einem ehemaligen DDR-Grenzturm zum Schwarze Moor, dem größten Hochmoor der Rhön. Hier gedeihen seltene Pflanzen wie der Sonnentau. Weiter leitet dich DER HOCHRHÖNER hin zum 926 Meter hohen Heidelstein. Farbenfroh blühende Bergwiesen sind Ergebnis mittelalterlicher Waldrodungen und der Weidewirtschaft.  Dein Weg führt dich weiter durch das Rote Moor. Mit seinen schlanken Karpatenbirken und kargen Feuchtwiesen verbreitet das vor rund 12.000 Jahren entstandene Hochmoor eine mystische Atmosphäre. Schon von Weitem siehst du das Radom auf der 950 Meter hohen Wasserkuppe. Von dort wurde während des Kalten Krieges der Luftraum der DDR überwacht. Auf dem Weg zu dem Berggipfel legst du an der Quelle der Fulda eine letzte Rast mit Blick auf eine artenreiche Bergmähwiese ein. Le début de cette étape te mène devant un ancien poste-frontière DDR vers la tourbière Noire, la plus grande tourbière de haute montagne de la Rhön. Ici poussent des plantes rares comme la droséra. Ensuite, DER HOCHRHÖNER te conduit au Heidelstein, qui culmine à 926 mètres. Les prairies de montagne colorées sont le résultat de défrichements médiévaux et de l’élevage pastoral. Ton chemin continue à travers la tourbière Rouge. Avec ses bouleaux des Carpathes élancés et ses prairies humides pauvres, cette tourbière d’altitude créée il y a environ 12 000 ans dégage une atmosphère mystique. De loin, tu vois le radôme sur la Wasserkuppe, qui s’élève à 950 mètres. Pendant la guerre froide, l’espace aérien de la RDA était surveillé depuis ce sommet. Sur le chemin vers ce sommet, tu fais une dernière pause à la source de la Fulda, avec vue sur une prairie de montagne riche en espèces. Une fois arrivé en haut, tu ressens les vents puissants qui attirent des sportifs du vol depuis plus de 100 ans. The start of this stage leads you past a former GDR border tower to the Black Moor, the largest raised bog of the Rhön. Rare plants such as the sundew grow here. DER HOCHRHÖNER then leads you to the 926-meter-high Heidelstein. Colorfully blooming mountain meadows are the result of medieval forest clearings and grazing. Your path then leads you through the Red Moor. With its slender Carpathian birches and sparse wet meadows, the raised bog, which originated about 12,000 years ago, spreads a mystical atmosphere. From afar, you can see the radome on the 950-meter-high Wasserkuppe. During the Cold War, the airspace of the GDR was monitored from there. On the way to the mountain summit, you make a final stop at the source of the Fulda with a view of a species-rich mountain hay meadow. Wasserkuppe You can reach the mountain by car via the following highways: From the A7, take exit 92 Fulda Mitte and take the B458 towards Hilders. Follow this road to the town of Dietges. Here you leave the B458 and follow signs to Wasserkuppe. From the A66, take exit 53 Fulda-Süd and take the B27 towards Bad Brückenau. Follow this road to the town of Döllbach, where you turn left onto the B279 towards Gersfeld. In Gersfeld follow the signs to Wasserkuppe.
