The small rural town of Wiehe is located in the Unstrut valley, on the Hohe Schrecke. The Hohe Schrecke is an old forest area where a wilderness with rare flora and fauna has emerged after decades of military use. The region is therefore ideal for hiking, for example to the new suspension rope bridge, or for cycling on the nearby Unstrut cycle path. Wiehe not only invites you to explore nature, but also to take a special trip around the world in miniature. The Wiehe model railway is one of the world's largest model railway exhibitions - on 12,000 square metres many different trains make their rounds in detailed landscapes and towns. In summer, the family swimming pool provides the right refreshment. The region around Wiehe has probably been settled since the Neolithic Age, later Germanic tribes lived here and in the Middle Ages the Memleben monastery cultivated wine. The monastery in the neighbouring district of Donndorf also belonged to the county - today the former monastery complex houses the Rural Adult Education Centre. The most famous son of Wiehe is probably the historian Leopold von Ranke, founder of modern historical science. A small Ranke museum in the town hall commemorates him. The local history museum in the old school exhibits a historical classroom and other memorabilia from the local history. The 300-year-old windmill in Langenroda and Wiehe Castle, which has now been renovated, are also part of the town's history. Where once stood an imperial castle from the 10th century, a castle in late Renaissance style was built in the 17th century. After the Second World War, however, the castle was looted and later used as a school for a time. In the meantime, the restoration has progressed so far that the castle is once again open to visitors by prior arrangement and is used for events.

En été, la piscine familiale permet de se rafraîchir comme il se doit. La région de Wiehe est probablement peuplée depuis le néolithique, plus tard, des tribus germaniques y ont vécu et au Moyen-Âge, le monastère de Memleben y cultivait la vigne. Le monastère du quartier voisin de Donndorf faisait également partie du comté - aujourd'hui, l'ancien monastère abrite l'université populaire rurale. Le fils le plus connu de Wiehe est sans doute l'historien Leopold von Ranke, fondateur de la science historique moderne, un petit musée Ranke dans la mairie lui rend hommage. Le musée local dans l'ancienne école expose une salle de classe historique et d'autres souvenirs de l'histoire locale. Le moulin à vent de la localité de Langenroda, vieux de 300 ans et aujourd'hui rénové, et le château de Wiehe constituent également un morceau d'histoire. Là où se trouvait autrefois un château impérial du 10e siècle, un château de style Renaissance tardif a été construit au 17e siècle. Après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, le château a toutefois été pillé, puis utilisé temporairement comme école. Im Unstruttal, an der Hohen Schrecke liegt die ländliche Kleinstadt Wiehe. Die Hohe Schrecke ist ein altes Waldgebiet, in dem nach jahrzehntelanger militärischer Nutzung eine Wildnis mit seltener Flora und Fauna entstanden ist. Die Region eignet sich also hervorragend zum Wandern, beispielsweise zur neuen Hängeseilbrücke, oder auch zum Radfahren auf dem nahen Unstrut-Radweg. Wiehe lädt nicht nur zur Naturerkundungen ein, sondern auch zu einer besonderen Weltreise im Miniaturformat. Die Modellbahn Wiehe ist eine der weltweit größten Modellbahn-Ausstellungen - auf 12.000 qm drehen viele verschiedene Züge in detailliert gestalteten Landschaften und Städten ihre Runden. Im Sommer sorgt das Familienbad für die passende Erfrischung. Die Region um Wiehe ist wohl schon seit der Jungsteinzeit besiedelt, später lebten hier germanische Stämme und im Mittelalter baute das Kloster Memleben Wein an. Auch das Kloster im benachbarten Ortsteil Donndorf gehörte zur Grafschaft - heute beherbergt die ehemalige Klosteranlage die Ländliche Heimvolkshochschule. Der wohl bekannteste Sohn von Wiehe ist der Historiker Leopold von Ranke, Begründer der modernen Geschichtswissenschaft, ein kleines Ranke-Museum im Rathaus erinnert an ihn. Das Heimatmuseum in der Alten Schule stellt ein historisches Klassenzimmer und weitere Erinnerungsstücke aus der Ortsgeschichte aus. Ein Stück Geschichte sind auch die rund 300 Jahre alte, heute sanierte Bockwindmühle im Ortsteil Langenroda und das Schloss von Wiehe. Wo einst eine Reichsburg aus dem 10. Jahrhundert stand, wurde im 17. Jahrhundert ein Schloss im späten Renaissancestil erbaut. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde das Schloss jedoch geplündert, später zeitweise als Schule genutzt. Inzwischen ist die Sanierung so weit fortgeschritten, sodass das Schloss Besuchern nach vorheriger Vereinbarung wieder offen steht und für Veranstaltungen genutzt wird.
