Der idyllische Kurpark liegt inmitten von Bad Frankenhausen und bietet sowohl Gästen als auch Einheimischen einen Ort der Entspannung und Erholung. Nördlich des Kurparks treten in einem Quellgrund zwei Salzquellen zutage, die noch heute Sole unterschiedlicher Konzentration schütten. Die Solequellen führten die Stadt zu Reichtum und einem Bekanntheitsgrad über die Thüringer Grenzen hinaus. Schon in der Eisenzeit um 800 v. Chr. siedete man in Frankenhausen Salz. Hier standen einst 117 Siedehäuser. In der Blütezeit in der 2. Hälfte des 16. Jahrhunderts wurden dabei 500 Zentner Salz täglich hergestellt. Heutzutage kann man am Siedehaus auf der oberen Wiese des Kurparks den Salzsiedern beim Schausieden zuschauen. Der Kurpark bietet zudem eine 12-Loch-Minigolf-Anlage, einen Musikpavillon und den Solewasser-Vitalpark. Ein besonderes Erlebnisangebot für Familien ist die kostenfreie App "Raxlifaxe" als Wächter von Ort und Zeit. North of the spa gardens, two salt springs emerge from a spring bed, which still pour out brine of varying concentrations today. The brine springs brought wealth to the town and made it famous beyond the borders of Thuringia. Salt was already being boiled in Frankenhausen in the Iron Age around 800 BC. There were once 117 boiling houses here. In its heyday in the second half of the 16th century, 500 hundredweight of salt were produced daily. Today, you can watch the salt boilers at work in the boiling house on the upper meadow of the spa gardens.
