Thimmendorf est un petit village pittoresque situé dans la commune de Remptendorf, dans l'arrondissement de Saale-Orla, en Thuringe, au cœur du parc naturel Thüringer Schiefergebirge/Obere Saale. Située sur un vaste plateau entre les montagnes schisteuses de Thuringe et la « mer de Thuringe » (les lacs artificiels de Bleiloch et Hohenwarte), la région se caractérise par ses vastes forêts et son « or bleu », le schiste. Situé à environ 571 mètres au-dessus du niveau de la mer, le village est un point de départ idéal pour les amoureux de la nature et offre de bonnes conditions, en particulier en hiver : les visiteurs y trouveront plusieurs pistes de ski de fond nordique, des sentiers de randonnée hivernale damés et une petite piste de luge, qui peut même être utilisée en partie sous les projecteurs, ce qui fait de Thimmendorf une destination calme et proche de la nature.

Thimmendorf is a picturesque little district of the municipality of Remptendorf in the Saale-Orla district of Thuringia, located in the middle of the Thuringian Slate Mountains/Upper Saale Nature Park. Situated on a wide plateau between the Thuringian Slate Mountains and the "Thuringian Sea" (the Bleiloch and Hohenwarte reservoirs), the region is characterized by its extensive forests and the influence of "blue gold," slate. The village, located at an altitude of around 571 meters above sea level, is an ideal starting point for nature lovers and offers particularly good conditions in winter: visitors will find several circular trails for Nordic cross-country skiing, rolled winter hiking trails, and a small toboggan run, part of which can even be used under floodlights, making Thimmendorf a peaceful and natural destination.

Thimmendorf ist ein malerischer, kleiner Ortsteil der Gemeinde Remptendorf im Saale-Orla-Kreis, Thüringen, der sich inmitten des Naturparks Thüringer Schiefergebirge/Obere Saale befindet. Gelegen auf einer weiten Hochebene zwischen dem Thüringer Schiefergebirge und dem "Thüringer Meer" (den Stauseen Bleiloch und Hohenwarte), zeichnet sich die Region durch ihre ausgedehnten Wälder und die Prägung durch das "Blaue Gold", den Schiefer, aus. Der auf etwa 571 Metern über Normalnull liegende Ort ist ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für Naturliebhaber und bietet insbesondere im Winter gute Bedingungen: Hier finden Besucher mehrere Rundloipen für den nordischen Langlauf, gewalzte Winterwanderwege und einen kleinen Rodelhang, der zum Teil sogar mit Flutlicht genutzt werden kann, was Thimmendorf zu einem ruhigen und naturnahen Ziel macht.
