Der Rundweg führt von Apolda über die Hochebene ins Weimarer Land. Weite Teile der Strecke erinnern mit verschiedenen Gedenksteinen und Tafeln an das Jahr 1806, als die preußische Armee von Napoleons Truppen vernichtend geschlagen wurde. Sie kommen an der historischen Bockwindmühle bei Krippendorf und am Museum 1806 vorbei, fahren durch das kleine Dorf Vierzehnheiligen, in dessen unmittelbarer Nähe die entscheidende Schlacht stattfand und besteigen den Gedenkturm auf dem Sperlingsberg. Aber auch der Genussfaktor kommt bei der Tour nicht zu kurz. Und auch die mittelalterliche Wasserburg in Kapellendorf wird passiert.

Le circuit part d'Apolda et traverse le plateau en direction du Weimarer Land. De larges portions du parcours sont marquées par diverses pierres commémoratives et panneaux rappelant l'année 1806, lorsque l'armée prussienne fut défaite de manière décisive par les troupes de Napoléon. The circular route leads from Apolda over the plateau into the Weimar region. Large parts of the route recall the year 1806 with various memorial stones and plaques, when the Prussian army was devastatingly defeated by Napoleon's troops. You pass the historic post mill near Krippendorf and the Museum 1806, travel through the small village of Vierzehnheiligen, near which the decisive battle took place, and climb the memorial tower on the Sperlingsberg. But the enjoyment factor is also not neglected on the route. You also pass the medieval moated castle in Kapellendorf.

It commemorates the last battle between the Prussians and the French, which took place here 100 years earlier and marked the end of the double battle of Jena-Auerstedt. The monument was originally planned as a Bismarck Tower, which were being built all over the country at the time. However, the private donations from the people of Kapellendorf were not enough and a smaller version was decided upon between Kapellendorf and Großromstedt. The approximately 6-metre-high tower with viewing platform is located on the cherry tree-covered plateau of the Sperlingsberg and offers a beautiful view of the Weimarer Land. The view is particularly impressive to the west towards Ettersberg, across the Ilm lowlands and to the Saale plateau.</p>
