Die erste Etappe des Kyffhäuserweges führt durch eine bizarre Gipskarst-Landschaft von der Kurstadt Bad Frankenhausen zur sagenumwobenen Barbarossahöhle. Auf diesem Gipsfelsenweg wechseln sich Wald und Wiesen ab. Vom karg bewachsenen Gestein leuchten im Frühjahr gelbe Adonisröschen und violette Kuhschellen. Mit Pflanzen aus der Steppe und anderen Raritäten präsentiert sich die Natur hier in einer für Mitteleuropa einzigartigen Vielfalt. Entdecken Sie am Wegesrand die Welt botanischer und geologischer Wunder, zu denen Infotafeln Geschichten erzählen. Oder erleben Sie Natur auf spielerische Weise: in der Naturparkstation. Zum Innehalten lädt die Ruine Falkenburg mit ihrem Panoramablick ein.

La première étape du parcours Kyffhäuser traverse un paysage karstique de gypse étrange de la ville thermale Bad Frankenhausen jusqu'à la légendaire grotte Barbarossa. The first stage of the Kyffhäuser route leads through a bizarre gypsum karst landscape from the spa town Bad Frankenhausen to the legendary Barbarossa Cave. Along this gypsum rock path, forest and meadows alternate. In spring, yellow Adonis and purple pasque flowers shine from the sparsely vegetated rock. The nature here presents itself with plants from the steppe and other rarities in a diversity unique for Central Europe. Discover botanical and geological wonders at the wayside, with information boards telling stories. Or experience nature in a playful way: at the nature park station. The Falkenburg ruin with its panoramic view invites you to pause.

Un peu en montée, vous passez maintenant devant le château de Hoheneck, puis par l'allée des marronniers vers le GeoParcours Sudkyffhäuser. Des forêts noueuses, un sol rocheux à nu et des pelouses maigres steppiques parsemées de trésors floraux colorés bordent cette section du parcours. Découvrez au bord du chemin comment les plantes se protègent du soleil ou s'il est possible de faire du pain avec des pierres. Des possibilités de halte intéressantes s'offrent à vous lors de l'une des magnifiques vues sur les paysages de prairies inondables et les vallées du parc naturel Kyffhäuser. Ou visitez la station du parc naturel, où petits et grands enfants profitent des balancements sur pierre et du bassin de saut. Une visite guidée à travers le vaste système de grottes souterraines de la grotte Barbarossa vous permet d’observer le parcours Kyffhäuser d’en bas. Here you have reached the lowest point of the Kyffhäuser route and are at 128 meters above sea level. Now slightly uphill, you pass Schloss Hoheneck through the chestnut avenue to the South Kyffhäuser GeoPath. Gnarled forests, bare rock, and steppe-like poor grasslands with colorful flower treasures line this section. Learn at the wayside how plants protect themselves from the sun or whether bread can be baked from stones. Interesting resting opportunities are offered at one of the splendid views over floodplain landscapes and valleys of the Kyffhäuser Nature Park. Or visit the nature park station, where small and large children enjoy the stone pendulum and the jumping pit. A guided tour through the huge underground cave system of the Barbarossa Cave lets you view the Kyffhäuser route from below. Maybe you will find the old Barbarossa’s hiding place here and can take a seat on his emperor’s chair?
