Der Weg führt anschließend durch Schatten spendende Pappeln und Birken in den Hainichwald. Nach kurzer Zeit ist schon der Gänsekropf erreicht. Auf diesem gerade zurückgelegten Weg marschierte bis in die 1990er Jahre noch das Militär. Über einen schmalen Pfad gelangen Sie in das Brunstal mit seinem gleichnamigen Erlebnispfad (Markierung: braunes Ahornblatt). Nach einigen Stationen auf dem Erlebnispfad führt Ihr Weg nun mehrmals bergauf und bergab durch das wildromantische Brunstal. Holztreppen und Stege erleichtern den Aufstieg zur Mülverstedter Chaussee. Nach den schmalen Pfaden, die mitunter Trittsicherheit erfordern, werden die Wege etwas breiter. So können Sie auf den nächsten Kilometern voll ausschreiten, bis Sie zum Wegekreuz an der Eisernen Hand gelangen. Die Eiserne Hand ist der älteste und wohl berühmteste Wegweiser im Hainich. Folgen Sie dem Daumen der Eisernen Hand, der in Richtung Ihlefeld - St. Katharinenberg zeigt. Nach ca. 50 m erreichen Sie das etwas im Wald versteckte Ihlefelder Kreuz. Das mannshohe Steinkreuz wurde zwischen 1400 und 1450 aufgestellt und ist damit das älteste Artefakt im Hainich. Vom Ihlefelder Kreuz aus in Richtung Betteleiche wandern Sie auf einem Teilabschnitt des Hainich-Rennstiegs. Nach ca. 1 km erreichen Sie die legändere Betteleiche. Der etwa 1000 Jahre altehrwürdige Baum gilt als Wahrzeichen des Hainichs. Der Weg führt Sie nun weiter vorbei an der Wüstung Ihlefeld - Katharinenberg und der nächsten Wüstung, dem Reckenbühl. Der Reckenbühl entstand wahrscheinlich um 1100 als Wirtschaftshof der Antoniusbrüder. Nach deren Vertreibung durch den Thüringer Landgrafen im Jahr 1338 nutzten die Ritter der Umgebung diese Wiese als Turnierplatz. Die Sieger der Schaukämpfe nannte man "Recken". Somit übertrug sich der Name auf dieses Anwesen. Die 1. Etappe des Hainichlandweges endet am Hainich-Haus, wo Sie den Tag bei einem leckeren Essen und einer Übernachtung in waldreicher Umgebung ausklingen lassen können.

Le chemin mène ensuite à travers des peupliers et des bouleaux ombragés dans la forêt de Hainich. Après un court moment, vous atteindrez déjà la côte d'oie. Jusqu'aux années 1990, les militaires ont suivi cette voie. Par un chemin étroit, vous atteignez le Brunstal avec son sentier d'aventure du même nom (marquage: feuille d'érable brune). Après quelques arrêts sur le sentier de l'aventure, votre chemin monte et descend plusieurs fois à travers le romantique Brunstal. Des escaliers en bois et des passerelles facilitent la montée vers la Mülverstedter Chaussee. Après les sentiers étroits, qui nécessitent parfois un pied sûr, les chemins deviennent un peu plus larges. Cela vous permet de vous dépenser pleinement sur les kilomètres suivants jusqu'à la croix de chemin de la Main de Fer. La Main de Fer est le plus ancien et probablement le plus célèbre des panneaux de signalisation du Hainich. Suivez le pouce de la Main de Fer, qui indique la direction de Ihlefeld - St. Katharinenberg. Après environ 50 m, vous atteindrez la croix d'Ihlefeld, qui est un peu cachée dans la forêt.
