Highlights der Tour: 1 Markt Rund um den Markt liegen Rathaus, Hotels, Gaststätten sowie der Freyburger Fremdenverkehrsverein e. V. Auf dem Platz stand früher das vergoldete Reiterdenkmal des Herzogs Christian von Sachsen-Weißenfels. Der Torso des im Jahr 1948 zerstörten Denkmals befindet sich heute im Innenhof von Schloss Neuenburg. Der einstige Standort wird durch eine Metalleinfassung mit einer Inschrift gekennzeichnet, als der Marktplatz 2003 im Rahmen eines Architekturwettbewerbes unter dem Motto „Toscana des Nordens“ umgestaltet wurde. 2 Rathaus Der Grundstein für das Rathaus, das auf romanischen Fundamenten und Gewölbekellern ruht, wurde im Jahr 1425 gelegt. Das heutige Erscheinungsbild ist geprägt durch Umbauten nach den Stadtbränden von 1551 und 1682, die auch das Rathaus stark in Mitleidenschaft gezogen hatten. Markt 1, 06632 Freyburg (Unstrut) 3 Stadtkirche St. Marien Die Errichtung der spätromanischen Kirche, die auch als „Schwester“ des Naumburger Domes bezeichnet wird, fällt in die Zeit zwischen 1210 – 1230 und wurde vermutlich durch den Thüringer Landgrafen Ludwig IV. (regierte von 1217-1227) veranlasst. Die Kirche ist im Kern romanisch. Anfang des 15. Jahrhunderts wurde die Apsis abgebrochen und durch einen gotischen Chor ersetzt. Auch die südliche Seitenapsis fiel einer angebauten Sakristei zum Opfer. Ende des 15. Jh. wurde das Langhaus abgetragen und durch ein Hallenschiff ersetzt. Aufgrund des atemberaubenden Ausblicks von den Steilhängen ist er für Gäste ein beliebtes Fotomotiv. Außerdem beherbergt er einen so genannten „Prominentenweinberg“, auf dem alle deutschen und die hiesigen Weinmajestäten sowie bedeutende Gäste der Stadt Freyburg eine Rebe setzen durften. 5 Schützenhaus Die erste verbürgte Nachricht vom 20.08.1603 „Ordnung und Gesetzt“ enthält 28 Schützenartikel. In dem Jahr wurde der 1. Schützenverein von Freyburg gegründet. 1659 erwarb die Schützengilde die Wiese „Hinterm Schlag“ als Schützenplatz, auf dem schon ein „Schießhaus“ stand. Das heutige Schützenhaus wurde 1996 vollständig renoviert und steht Gästen als Veranstaltungsobjekt zur Verfügung. Bis heute nutzt der Freyburger Schützenverein 1603 e. V. die Kellerschießanlage. Schützenstraße 6, 06632 Freyburg (Unstrut) 6 Jahn-Ehrenhalle Das 1903 eingeweihte Bauwerk diente als erstes Jahn-Museum und Erinnerungsstätte an die deutschen Turnerfeste. Die kunstvoll gestalteten, bleiverglasten Fenster wurden von den Städten gestiftet, die Ausrichter der Turnfeste waren. Heute dient sie als beliebter Veranstaltungsort für Feste, Tagungen und Vereine. Später wurde sie der Stadt Freyburg geschenkt mit der Auflage, dass sie ausschließlich für den Turnbetrieb genutzt wird. Heute ist sie Übungsstätte für Vereine und den Schulsport. Am 28.12.1934 schloss sich eine Gemeinschaft von Freyburger Winzern zusammen um die Traubenverarbeitung und den Kellerbetrieb in eigener Regie abzusichern. Die 27 Gründungsmitglieder brachten 31 Hektar in die Vereinigung ein. Heute sind es 400 Mitglieder, die rund 400 Hektar Rebfläche bewirtschaften. In der „Freyburger Weingalerie“ werden Gäste umfassend zum Saale-Unstrut-Wein beraten. Etwas Besonderes sind die Weinverkostungen im ANISIUM, die mit einer Führung durch einen der schönsten Holzfasskeller Deutschlands gekrönt werden. Heute gehört das Haus Rotkäppchen-Mumm Sektkellereien zu den führenden Sektherstellern Deutschlands. Besonders sehenswert in der historischen Sektkellerei sind der um die Jahrhundertwende entstandene historische Lichthof, die fünfgeschossige Kelleranlage und der mächtige Domkeller mit dem größten Cuvéeholzfass Deutschlands. Sektkellereistraße 5, 06632 Freyburg (Unstrut) 11 Eckstädter Tor Das Tor mit Turm und Torbastion liegt im Südwesten der Stadt und verband diese mit der Eckstädter Vorstadt. Die Südseite von dem Vortor steckt in dem Wohnhaus Eckstädter Platz 10. Das Eckstädter Tor selbst wurde 1385 erbaut / versteinert und bestand aus einem Vortor, einen Pfanghof sowie einem Haupttor neben dem Turm. Erhalten ist noch der nördliche Teil des Fangtors (Barbakane). 12 Napoleonpforte Die Pforte befand sich bis 1888 im Süden der Stadtmauer in Richtung Unstrut. Der Torturm wurde zu einem Wohnhaus umgebaut. Seit dem Durchzug Napoleons 1813 wurde sie „Napoleonpforte“ genannt, da er von dieser Stelle aus das Übersetzen seiner Truppen über die Unstrut geleitet haben soll. 13 Burgmühle Die einst zur Neuenburg gehörige Mühle entstand Ende des 11. Jh. 1632 ließ der sächsische Kurfürst Johann Georg ein neues Mühlengebäude errichten. Sie wurde als Walk-, Öl-, Säge- und Getreidemühle genutzt. Ende des 19. Jh. wurden Turbinen zur Elektroenergieerzeugung eingebaut. Seit 2015 wird hier wieder Strom aus Wasserkraft gewonnen. Im Restaurant können Sie leckere Speisen und Weine aus Saale-Unstrut genießen. Mühlstraße 10, 06632 Freyburg (Unstrut) 14 Herzoglicher Weinberg Der unterhalb vom Schloss Neuenburg gelegene Terrassenweinberg ist mit seinem markanten Rokoko-Weinberghaus ein Wahrzeichen der Region. In der heutigen Gestalt repräsentiert er einen barocken Weingarten, wie er Ende des 18. Jh. entstand. Jh. unter den Landgrafen von Thüringen prächtig ausgebaut. Architektonisches Glanz-stück ist die romanische Doppelkapelle. In Renaissance und Barock diente die Burg als Jagdschloss sächsischer Fürsten. Schloß 1, 06632 Freyburg (Unstrut) 16 Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Museum Das Museum, das seit den Olympischen Spielen 1936 im Wohnhaus des „Turnvater Jahn“ untergebracht ist, dokumentiert das Leben des Begründers der deutschen Turnbewegung. Der seit 1825 in Freyburg (anfangs in politischer Verbannung) lebende Jahn wurde 1936 im Ehrenhof des Hauses bestattet. Der Gerichtskeller und die Gerichtstreppe erhielten später ihren Namen nach dem Amtsgericht, das nach 1880 im Schulhaus eingerichtet wurde. Höhe Jahnplatz 1, 06632 Freyburg (Unstrut) 18 Rektorat und Amtsgericht Der ursprüngliche Kernbau des Rektorats stammt aus dem 2. Viertel des 16. Jahrhunderts. Als erster Rektor ist Peter Leinewetter im Jahre 1555 überliefert. Er bezog im Obergeschoss eine Wohnung. Im Erdgeschoss entstand eine Knabenschule, kurze Zeit später zudem eine „Magtleinschule“. 1834 zog die Knabenschule aus Platzgründen in neue Unterrichtsräume ins Rathaus. Im Laufe der Jahre brauchte die Stadt wesentlich mehr Platz für all die wissbegierigen Kinder der Stadt. 1861 wurde rechts der Knabenschule der Grundstein für die neue Schule und das spätere Amtsgericht gelegt und 2 Jahre später eingeweiht. Keine 20 Jahre später hielt das Amtsgericht Einzug und die heutige Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Schule wurde eröffnet. Das Alte Rektorat diente seither bis in die 1980er Jahre als Wohnhaus. Additionally, it houses a so-called "celebrity vineyard" where all German and local wine royalty as well as important guests of the city of Freyburg are allowed to plant a vine. 5 Shooting House The first documented notice from 20.08.1603 "Order and Law" contains 28 shooting articles. In that year, the first shooting club of Freyburg was founded. In 1659, the shooting guild purchased the meadow "Hinterm Schlag" as a shooting range where a "shooting house" already stood. The current shooting house was completely renovated in 1996 and is available to guests as an event venue. To this day, the Freyburg shooting club 1603 e.V. uses the cellar shooting facility. Sektkellereistraße 5, 06632 Freyburg (Unstrut) 11 Eckstädter Gate The gate with tower and gate bastion is located in the southwest of the city and connected it with the Eckstädter suburb. The south side of the foregate is part of the residential house at Eckstädter Platz 10. The Eckstädter Gate itself was built/solidified in 1385 and consisted of a foregate, a catch courtyard, and a main gate next to the tower. The northern part of the catch gate (barbican) is still preserved. 12 Napoleon Gate The gate was located until 1888 in the south of the city wall towards the Unstrut. The gate tower was converted into a residential house. Since Napoleon's passage in 1813, it has been called "Napoleon Gate" as he supposedly directed the crossing of his troops over the Unstrut from this location. 13 Castle Mill Once belonging to Neuenburg, the mill was established at the end of the 11th century. In 1632, the Saxon elector Johann Georg had a new mill building constructed. It was used as a fulling, oil, saw, and grain mill. The court cellar and the court staircase later received their names from the district court, which was established in the school building after 1880. Sektkellereistraße 5, 06632 Freyburg (Unstrut) 11 Porte Eckstädter Cette porte avec sa tour et sa bastion est située au sud-ouest de la ville et reliait celle-ci au faubourg Eckstädter. Le côté sud de la porte se trouve dans une maison d'habitation au 10 Eckstädter Platz. La porte Eckstädter elle-même fut construite/transformée en pierre en 1385. Elle comprenait une porte d'entrée, une cour de pêche et une porte principale à côté de la tour. La partie nord de la porte de pêche (Barbacane) est encore conservée. 12 Porte Napoléon Cette porte se trouvait jusqu’en 1888 au sud du mur d'enceinte vers l’Unstrut. La tour a été convertie en maison d’habitation. Depuis le passage de Napoléon en 1813, elle est appelée « porte Napoléon », car il aurait dirigé de ce point le passage de ses troupes sur l’Unstrut. 13 Moulin du château Le moulin, autrefois partie du château Neuenburg, fut construit à la fin du XIe siècle. En 1632, l’électeur saxon Johann Georg fit construire un nouveau bâtiment. Il servit successivement de foulon, moulin à huile, scierie et moulin à grains. À la fin du XIXe siècle, des turbines furent installées pour produire de l'électricité. Depuis 2015, l’électricité est à nouveau produite par la force hydraulique. Le restaurant propose des plats et des vins délicieux de la région Saale-Unstrut. La double chapelle romane est un chef-d’oeuvre architectural. Durant la Renaissance et le Baroque, le château servit de pavillon de chasse pour les princes saxons. Schloß 1, 06632 Freyburg (Unstrut) 16 Musée Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn Installé depuis les Jeux Olympiques de 1936 dans la maison d’habitation du « Père de la gymnastique Jahn », le musée documente la vie du fondateur du mouvement de gymnastique allemand. Jahn, qui vivait à Freyburg depuis 1825 (initialement en exil politique), fut enterré dans la cour d’honneur de la maison en 1936. La cave du tribunal et l'escalier du tribunal ont reçu leur nom plus tard d'après le tribunal de district installé dans l’école après 1880. Höhe Jahnplatz 1, 06632 Freyburg (Unstrut) 18 Rectorat et tribunal de district Le bâtiment initial du rectorat date du deuxième quart du XVIe siècle. Le premier recteur connu est Peter Leinewetter en 1555. Il occupait un appartement à l'étage supérieur. Au rez-de-chaussée fut aménagée une école pour garçons, puis une « Magtleinschule ». En 1834, faute de place, l’école pour garçons déménagea dans une nouvelle salle de classe à la mairie. Au fil des ans, la ville nécessita plus d’espace pour tous ses enfants studieux. En 1861, la première pierre de la nouvelle école et futur tribunal fut posée à droite de l’école pour garçons, inaugurée 2 ans plus tard. Moins de 20 ans après, le tribunal emménagea et la Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Schule fut ouverte. L'ancien rectorat servit jusqu’aux années 1980 comme habitation.
