Der Ortsteil Niedersachswerfen der Gemeinde Harztor liegt an den südlichen Ausläufern des Harzes, unmittelbar neben der Stadt Nordhausen. Die wohl markantesten Erhebungen des Ortes im Naturpark Südharz sind der Kohnstein, wo über Jahrzehnte hinweg Anhydritgestein abgebaut wurden, und der Mühlberg. Die St. Johannis-Pauli-Kirche mit ihrem Kirchhof markiert den Ortskern. Niedersachswerfen ist an das Netz der Harzer Schmalspurbahnen angebunden, vom Ort aus fährt täglich eine historische Dampflok hinauf zu Brocken und auch mit den Triebwagen der HSB lässt sich der Südharz bequem erkunden. Im Sommer ist das Freibad von Niedersachswerfen ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel. Einmal im Jahr zieht es Laufbegeisterte zum Harztorlauf nach Niedersachswerfen. Wer es nicht ganz so schnell mag, kann die Umgebung auf verschiedenen Wanderwegen entdecken oder mit dem Rad auf dem Harzrundweg Richtung Ilfeld oder Neustadt/Harz.

The district Niedersachswerfen of the municipality Harztor is located at the southern foothills of the Harz Mountains, right next to the city of Nordhausen. The most prominent elevations of the village in the South Harz Nature Park are the Kohnstein, where anhydrite rock was mined for decades, and the Mühlberg. The St. Johannis-Pauli-Kirche with its churchyard marks the centre of the village. Niedersachswerfen is connected to the network of the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (narrow-gauge railways), a historic steam locomotive runs daily from the village up to Brocken, and the railcars of the HSB also make it easy to explore the southern Harz. In summer the open-air swimming pool of Niedersachswerfen is a popular destination. Once a year running enthusiasts are attracted to Niedersachswerfen for the Harztorlauf. Those who don't like it quite so fast can discover the surroundings on various hiking trails or by bike on the Harz circular route towards Ilfeld or Neustadt/Harz.

Le quartier de Niedersachswerfen de la commune de Harztor est situé sur les contreforts sud du Harz, juste à côté de la ville de Nordhausen. Les reliefs les plus marquants de la localité, située dans le parc naturel du Harz méridional, sont sans doute le Kohnstein, d'où l'on a extrait de la roche anhydrite pendant des décennies, et le Mühlberg. L'église St. Johannis-Pauli et son cimetière marquent le centre du village. Niedersachswerfen est relié au réseau des chemins de fer à voie étroite du Harz. Une locomotive à vapeur historique part tous les jours du village pour monter jusqu'au Brocken et les automotrices de la HSB permettent également d'explorer confortablement le sud du Harz. En été, la piscine en plein air de Niedersachswerfen est un lieu d'excursion très apprécié. Une fois par an, les amateurs de course à pied se rendent à Niedersachswerfen pour la course du Harztor. Ceux qui n'aiment pas la vitesse peuvent découvrir les environs sur différents sentiers de randonnée ou à vélo sur le Harzrundweg en direction d'Ilfeld ou de Neustadt/Harz.
