Der Dom ist eines der bedeutendsten Kulturdenkmäler des europäischen Hochmittelalters, weltweit einzigartig sind seine Architektur, die Glasmalerei und die Bildhauerkunst. Das bestätigte auch das UNESCO-Welterbekomitee im Juni 2018 und erklärte den Dom zum Welterbe der Menschheit. Im Dom faszinieren vor allem die Stifterfiguren im Westchor, die ein namenloser Steinbildhauer vor knapp 800 Jahren geschaffen hat, die Besucher. Eine Figur sticht dabei besonders heraus: Uta von Naumburg, Umberto Eco bezeichnete sie als die „schönste Frau des Mittelalters“, sie erscheint stolz aber auch geheimnisvoll und war das Vorbild für Walt Disneys böse Königin in seiner Verfilmung des Märchens Schneewittchen, so machte die Stiftfigur den Naumburger Dom weltbekannt. Ihrem Schöpfer verdankt der Naumburger Dom auch die Planung, Ausführung und Ausstattung des Westchors und des Westlettners, einem Meisterwerk menschlicher Schöpferkraft. Im Naumburger Dom imponieren auch die beiden Lettner, welche die Chöre räumlich vom Kirchenschiff trennen. Zwei erhaltene hochmittelalterliche Lettner in einer Kirche sind einzigartig auf der Welt!

Dans la cathédrale, ce sont surtout les figures des donateurs dans le chœur ouest, créées il y a près de 800 ans par un sculpteur sur pierre anonyme, qui fascinent les visiteurs. Une figure se distingue particulièrement : Uta von Naumburg, Umberto Eco l'a qualifiée de "plus belle femme du Moyen Âge", elle apparaît fière mais aussi mystérieuse et a servi de modèle à la méchante reine de Walt Disney dans son adaptation cinématographique du conte de Blanche-Neige, c'est ainsi que la statue a rendu la cathédrale de Naumburg mondialement connue. La cathédrale de Naumburg doit également à son créateur la planification, la réalisation et l'aménagement du chœur occidental et du jubé, un chef-d'œuvre de la créativité humaine. Les deux jubés qui séparent les chœurs de la nef sont également impressionnants. Deux jubés du haut Moyen Âge conservés dans une église, c'est unique au monde !
